The scariest thing happened yesterday!
DS #1 was out sailing with DH. I was cooking dinner for DS#2. The pasta was almost ready. I decided to take out the garbage and I figured by the time I got back, dinner would be ready. Since the baby is like houdini and can unlock the doors to get outside in a second, I was playing with the locks earlier to see if I could outsmart him.
So I took the garbage out and when I went to get back in the house, I found that I locked myself out of the house. I had NO way to get it and the pasta and sauce were boiling and READY. I ran to a neighbors house to call DH to see if he was on his way home. He was about 30 minutes away. I kept running back in the backyard to see if the pasta was smoking...it was! I called 911. They showed up an HOUR later. DH got home in about 20 minutes.
The house was full of smoke..my dog was going nuts. I nearly melted the pot that was cooking the pasta. We were minutes from a full blown fire!!!!
I have never been so scared. I am soooooooo thankful that I brought DS out with me. I cant imagine what would have happened if I didn't. I literally cried my eyes out last night.
Moral of the story: MUST HIDE KEYS SOMEWHERE OUTSIDE!!!

How scary!!I'm glad you and DS are ok. What is even scarier is that it took 911 an hour to show up

Thank God nothing serious happened and that you had your DS with you when you went out...
My parents have a fake rock outside with the key to the house....
Only problem is.... you have to find which rock it is in the garden!

Thank god everything worked out ok!
I have locked myself out once or twice but not since I had DS a few months ago. You just reminded me that we need to hide a key outside!

When we redo our house, I am putting one of these on one of the doors. This way, we can never be locked out....
