Because with all the drama the last few times this case was brought up....I did not want to deal with it. People said some really nasty things before if you remember.
I don't see how posting under a fake name prevents you from dealing with drama? If you don't want to deal with drama, don't post.
If this is your opinion, you should be proud of it and not hide under a new screen name.

I'm just sick because my sister is in family court (up the block) on one of her cases this morning. I just pray it's not crazy down there.
I switch to a bus near there few blocks away from that courthouse. Everything seemed ok 15minutes ago, just a lot of helicoptor noise, but I thought the verdict was supposed to be read at 9. I hope your sister is ok

Police have been advised NOT to take vacation/time-off for the next four days...so security is stepped up.
Praying for her safety!

personally, i feel like i dont have enough info to really have an opinion. I dont know who to side with. There is so much of the testimony that we didn't hear.
I am sure the judge made the right decision based upon the facts that were brought up in the courtroom

this person obviously feels very strongly about this situation. i don't see a problem with wanting to avoid drama regarding a potentially controversial topic by using a fake screen name. plus, it is possible that this person has been associated with dramatic posts in the pasts and purposely wants to avoid that today. to each his own. you don't want to use a fake SN - good for you. this person has different feelings about that - who are we to judge?

From what I know of the case, the facts surrounding the shooting are a little fuzzy. I think there was poor judgement on both parts.
I know that police officers have to do their job, but I feel like the number of shots fired was excessive. I know they had reason to believe that the three men had a gun and they were just trying to protect themselves.
On the other side, I know first hand how it feels to have a loved one killed and not have justice served. It hurts.
JMO
I just hope that no violence ensues.

but just to be clear...using a fake name to post something doesn't STOP drama, it just DISassociates a known poster FROM any potential drama.
so it doesn't seem to serve to avoid the drama, just the connection to it.

Points aren't well made if they aren't by regular posters IMO. If you strongly believe something, be honest, don't hide. It's your right to believe what you want, so stand up for it or don't bother.

OK Real names, fake names, whichever you prefer, I'm glad that it is over for now and the area is pretty quiet.
Having a lot of friends that are NYPD, I was fearing for their safety esp those in the local area precincts (sp?).

a big sigh of relief for all 3 detectives 
and prayers for the family as well... while i strongly agree with the judges decision, i know that this can't be an easy time for those close to sean bell or the others involved. however, sentancing cops to those charges would not have brought sean bell back to them. i'm hoping that in some way, this is still a form of closure - the case is closed and they can try to move on with their lives. as can the detectives, who no longer face prison time for acting in good faith in the line of duty.
