The Secret Service came to visit John's class yesterday
One of the boys in his class has a Dad that is a secret service agent. He came in and talked to the kids about his job and such and then he took their pics and fingerprinted them. Later he let the kids go outside and see the same kind of car the President rides in, it was really cool. At pick up the teachers handed the parents a certificate from "United States Secret Service Operation Safe Kids" It had his pics and prints (the US Secret service does not keep records associated with the program). On the back it had some pretty good info on what to do if your child should ever go missing (GOD forbid):
Do it yourself DNA collection kit:
1. Rub a clean sterile cotton swab on the inside of the cheek until moist
2. Let sample air-dry for 24 hours
3. Place the sample in a sealed zip-lock bag
4. Place the sealed zip-lock into another ziplock
5. Label the bag with the current date and the childs full name
6. Store the bags in the freezer
What to do if your child is missing:
1. Immediatley call 911
2. Request that your childs name and identifiers are immediately entered in to the NCIC Missing Persons Profile
3. Report your missing child to the National Center for the Missing and Exploited Children
1-800-843-5678
4. Notify the local FBI office
5. Take note of where your child was last seen, what they were wearing and when you noticed they were missing
6. Report missing child to friends and associates
7. all main telephone nos. should be staffed 24/7 in the event your child should contact home.
8. take clear photographs annually of each child in the event they are needed for investigative purposes.
