Does that expire? I was in the hospital at 29 1/2 weeks with preterm labor. Thankfully they were able to stop it and I went home. I'm 33 weeks and 1 day w twins today- but realized when I was in the hospital they told me they were covered for the next 3 weeks. Not sure if that was with the steroid shots, magnesium, or both. Will ask at Perinatologist tomorrow but thought in the meantime someone here might know. Wondering if I should be getting them again. Thanks!

No, they don't expire :) The shots are for helping babies' lungs develop more rapidly in case they were born before 33 weeks or 32 (don't remember) At a certain point (I think 33 weeks) they don't give them anymore because it's considered a safe milestone for the babies. Once they get the steroids, they're supposed to be good to go on their own if they're born from that point on. Keep us posted!~ Chat Icon

You should be good. I was given the shots at 30w and the girls were born at 30w5d and didn't need breathing assistance past the first day.

Not really sure how long they last but I got them at 32 weeks and my DD was born 32 weeks, 5 days and didn't need any assistance when born - 8 and 9 apgar scores.

A family member just had twins in May. She was hospitalized twice during her pregnancy due to pre-term labor. They gave her the steroids twice. The twins were born at 33w I think and neither of them had any breathing issues
