Re: The things they never told you...

I never knew about the hip and leg pain. That is the main reason why I have trouble sleeping at night.

Um... I thought that the pushes were supposed to be enjoyable....

I'm not enjoying her pushes so much anymore as she does them in the same spot all the time - she has def found her niche... and doesn't want to move from there!

Re: The things they never told you...

I was never told how horrible the insomnia becomes. That my areola's and nipples would become so large. I could never have imagined that the exhaustion would be this bad!! I never knew heartburn could make a person cry. How miserable it is to get dressed some days. Oh and of course, I never knew that I would pee myself almost daily when I laughed or sneezed

For the strep B test, some dr's swab the rectum, my dr. only swabbed the girly parts....ask your dr. (no different than a pap smear)

How terrible a sinus headache can be when the tylenol does nothing.

The urgency to find a bathroom those last few weeks (not #1) tmi

How hard it is walking to the bathrm w/ the IV when you are in the holding room at the hospital

I think I wa sOVERwarned. So many people told me pregnancy was absolutely miserable. This is the most wonderful thing that I have ever experienced.
I have been very lucky.
I also just already knew about all the terrible side effects.

Re: The things they never told you...

when they take your beta strep test (around 36 weeks) they take a cotton swab and take a pap from your vagina. then they take another one and gently touch your butt to get a sample too. There is a reason why. I can't explain it as well as a dr. can but I'll try.

There are 2 types of strep. One of them is from our bowels. That one is normal and okay to have. So they test you in both areas to make sure exactly which one you have. If you have only the bowel one, then it's fine and you don;t need to take antibiotics. If you have the other one then you have to be given antibiotics right before the baby comes out. And that's no big deal either.

It doesn't hurt one bit. They don't go inside. They just swipe the area with the cotton swab.

Serioulsy it's no big deal. Try not to be nervous.

Re: The things they never told you...

Lovenox shots. That not everyone has morning sickness and that other than a little energy depletion it's not always that unbearable in the first trimester for some.

That moving around can be so hard and I've never panted so hard from walking short distances. That my boobs would get quite this big! How nerve wracking it can be to avoid certain foods (i.e. cold cuts) and also the worries associated with things like spotting or just hoping your baby is okay b/c it's been several hours since you've felt movement.

That I would learn to hate every type of fast food known to man except Taco Bell. I frequent our local one waayyy more than I should.

That something so small could pack such a powerful punch at 3AM. Insane but I'm totally in love with that feeling.

**WAAYYYY TMI**

That I could be sooo constipated one week and then the next week, produce something that looks like it could have come out of a flippin' rhino. Chat Icon
