AP Photo More Photos... O'Donnell to Replace Vieira on 'The View' Thursday April 27 8:29 PM ET
Rosie O'Donnell is expected to make a surprise return to daytime television by taking over exiting Meredith Vieira's slot on the talk show "The View."
O'Donnell's appointment was reported Thursday by the newsmagazine "Extra." It was confirmed by a person close to the show who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because "The View" wanted to make the announcement on Friday's show.

That's very surprising to me. I thought she wanted out of tv.

Re: The View watchers, looks like they found a replacement
I stopped watching a while ago (Lisa Ling was still on...) but I would definitely NOT watch it again if Rosie O'Donnell replaces Meredith. There could be some interesting double-teaming though of Joy and Rosie on Star that could be entertaining.

Re: The View watchers, looks like they found a replacement
I think she could be good- she probably still has a loyal following and the show could use it.
I'm interested to see how she interacts with Elisabeth Hasselbeck, since she's so conservative.

wow, am I the only one who liked Rosie's show??? I don't watch the view now, but I'd consider it now that she's going to join the cast....I think her opinion's on current events are heartfelt, and she doesn't seem to care about whether or not what she's saying is the popular opinion...

No, you're not the only one. I liked her show too. And I generally like her too - I agree, she does seem heartfelt to me. I think that a lot of people don't like that she is so vocal (and sometimes a little too pushy maybe) about her views. I'm afraid she'll crush little Elizabeth though- I'm sure they will have MANY disagreements. But, I think it'd be interesting to watch.

I don't care too much about Rosie, but I think she's more of a solo kind of person.

I used to really like her show. Then I felt she started to get....weird. I don't know how else to describe it.
The Boy George haircut, and her attitude with the press and just her whole demeanor got, well, meaner to me.
I can't stand to hear her talk anymore. She's right up there with Tom Cruise for me.

I can't stand Rosie OR Star but I gotta say , seeing the two of them fighting might spice up that show a bit
