therapist question
I had been going to a therapist for almost a year to work through a problem and am finding that I feel that I am doing so much better and want to start seeing her less and see how thigs go. She keeps pressuring me to continue going just as much. Have any of you ever felt that after a while your therapist was in it more for the money?

Re: therapist question
I started once a week and now I go every other week and sometimes once a month. Just tell her what you want.

Re: therapist question
For a few months I was going to her once a week and then every other week. I told her this week that I wnated to start seeing her once a month and she said she doesnt do that because "its not therapy". I have never been to a therapist other than now so I dont know if I am getting the run around. (I have paid all visits out of my pocket. She doesnt take my insurance).Dont get me wrong. She is great, but I dont want to rely on therapy forever.

Re: therapist question
I've had that experience, and I've switched therapists. I always thought there was something more wrong that maybe I wasn't seeing until I realized, no, I know myself, and I'm doing just fine! I then found a good therapist who sees me just when I need to work through something. I don't go all the time, and a good therapist should know that not everyone needs to go every week. JMHO.

Re: therapist question
Exactly..thats just how I feel. I went there to deal with one issue and I dont want to her to start to almost "invent" problems that arent really there. If I feel I could get by with going once a month, I dont see why she is having a problem with that.

Re: therapist question
Just tell her that and if that's no good for her find another. I've fired a few therapists out there for pushiness.

Re: therapist question
She really should know that you are ready to see her less. Talk to her.
Good Luck.
