Therapy/Counselor for Anxiety and Panic Attacks
I am wondering if anyone has gone to therapy or seen a counselor for anxiety..and if it helped?..Lately I am having some irrational thoughts and I really think I need to talk to someone..
I dont know if just talking to someone will help, maybe I will feel less anxiety if I talk it out..
Thanks..

I know of someone in Merrick (and she also works out of her home in Mineola). Not sure what area you are looking for.
There is also someone in Suffolk I know. I believe she is in the Setauket area.

Someone fm'd me a recommendation for Queens where I live so I am def going to give them a call. Thank for the posts. Can I ask--if you dont mind sharing do you think therapy and talking it out helps ease the anxiety? I feel so nervous about going. thanks!

Re: Therapy/Counselor for Anxiety and Panic Attacks
I can tell you that going to a therapist and talking most definitely helped me with my anxiety. I went on meds for awhile (which REALLY helped) as well. The meds helped with the acute panic attacks, but the therapy taught me how to head off the anxiety through techniques to calm me when I'd feel attacks coming on.
3 years later I am medicine free and no longer need therapy.

Re: Therapy/Counselor for Anxiety and Panic Attacks
Hi Girls, I have an appt today at 330 with someone who came highly recommended. I literally was crying at my desk at work this morning and he is taking me right away today.. So I will keep you all posted. I am so nervous about going. Like I know I need to but I keep thinking ok maybe I really dont need to go...cause at that given moment I feel ok then its horrible again. I am forcing myself to go..
