There is always one freakin kid who tells the class that Santa does not really exist

I teach third grade in the city...is it realistic to believe that all still believe NO...but I always assume they do.

So I read one of my favorite stories today "How Santa Got his Job" and told the kids it was a true storyChat Icon So one girl shouts out...."UH no its not Santas not even real"

But I could see that the other kids were so into the story that they didn't care...Even one of my toughest girls was so into the story and she was the one who asked me if it was a true story...soooo cute!

I remember when the kid I babysat came home & asked me because someone was teasing him.

I said "Real?! I remember trying to catch him when I was a kid!" and went on to describe my detailed santa traps. At least I didn't lie.

Re: There is always one freakin kid who tells the class that Santa does not really exist

I had a few kids that didn't believe in Santa when I taught 3rd grade but I changed their mind. I had a teacher write up (with her fancy writing) a letter to my kids from "Santa" and I taped it to the outside of the window. When I opened the shade up the next morning, the kids were shocked to see this letter.

I also stayed after and left them stockings with their names on them. The day before Christmas vacation, I left their presents under the tree in my classroom.

The non-believers...changed their minds in the end...Chat Icon

Kathleen .. get this...

I dont remember the actual grade but I guess it was like 2nd or 3rd...

Anyway the PRINCIPAL of my school came in our clas one day and one of the girls rasied her hand and said "Mrs. XXXX, whatare you asking for from Santa???"

And she says... "Oh you guys don;t still belive in that, do you?"

You can guess how many parent calls were made that night...

I teach Pre-K and my kids love that book. Thank goodness I'm at that age where the kids all still believe in Santa. I'll be reading that myself next week Chat Icon This is such a fun month for curriculum planning!!

I never ever ever tell students that he isn't real...Kids always ask if he is real and I say of course he is...who do you think buys all of the toys?
