I thought I heard that the reward had nothing to do with it 
They had just happen to arrest this guy for something else and found evidence that this was the guy

They also rescued another pit bull puppy from his home. That they will put up for adoption. And they are looking in to seeing if he was trainning dogs for fighting.

I read on Newsday that he did it because the dog was "too aggressive toward his family." ***? So you burn your dog? He's your dog....you don't light him on fire. A HOLE.
