Things My OB/GYN Told Me.....
I'm not sure if this has been done - but i thought it may be helpful to have a thread of the things we've all been told....good and bad things to try, etc...
I saw my OB a week ago and I was told that the best days to try to conceive for MOST women are the: 11th, 13th, 15th, 17th & 19th.
During this time - your husband should NOT be taking care of things on his own.
Ummmmmmmmmm....that's really all I was told.....

The only thing my Dr told me was not to get PG until DD was at least 6 months old, lol.... I think I'm safe, she's almost 17 months!!!
I guess I'll have more to report once I see him on May 13th!

When you mention those days, you mean cycle days, right? Maybe that'll be next month's hat trick for us.  Not that I'm out yet, but I'm at the point where I'm just assuming I am.

I guess that would not work for me since I have a 25 day cycle. But it probably works for others.

Are you sure? That seems kind of strange to me. I have a (well, on average) 32 day cycle so I usually O around CD 17, but definitely not always near the 17th of the month.

Are you sure? That seems kind of strange to me. I have a (well, on average) 32 day cycle so I usually O around CD 17, but definitely not always near the 17th of the month.
that is exactly what she told me - i'm POSITIVE - i called Dave the minute i left the office to tell him!

Just to be sure for yourself... I don't know how long your cycles are... but you might want to try a website like mymonthlycycles.com or fertilityfriend.com to track your periods. It can give you estimations on when you O based on your average cycle length.

For me, this would mean having sex on CD17, CD19, CD21, CD23 and CD 25. My cycle is 28 days long.

I think Jess' Dr. was generalizing women's cycles for her to give her a starting point to work from.

I agree that her doctor was trying to generalize, but I think Jess misunderstood her. For her own good and for all who read this forum, it's worth getting the facts straight. Her doctor would've meant that those are days in her CYCLE she should have sex on to maximize her chances of getting pregnant, not the days of the MONTH. So if the first day is the first day of AF not of the month (as in May 1). If first day of AF is CD1, she should have sex on CD11, 13, 15, 17, 19 etc. Those days would most likely cover the fertile days in most 'normal' cycles. But until any person knows when SHE ovulates, she could risk mis-timing it if she simply had May 11, 13, 15 etc. The plan her doctor mentions is a good starting point, but you really shoudl make an effort to get to know your own body and your own cycle.
To answer the original question - my doctor just told me that DH and I should not smoke (we didn't to begin with) and to lay off the alcohol a bit.

Me too. It would totally make sense talking about cycle days, but not days of the month. What if you got AF on the 15th of the month? Then your most fertile time would be somewhere around the 1st of the next month (assuming you have 28 day cycle)

absloutely must mean cycle days, but also that presumes you have a 28-30 day cycle, because i don't ovulate till cycle day 28

It definetly means CD... I got AF on april 12 so i will not be able to do it ant one of those days then on a 28 day cycle AF shows up on 10 so I would miss the whole month.... That DR. is nuts
