think i made a mistake - a little long

i was laid off from my job thanksgiving week (fundraising events). I was lucky enough to find a temp position somewhat related to my field a few weeks later. I was applying to jobs everyday and landed an interview w. a recruiting firm for a small foundation. There were a few things that made me a little nervous, the chairman is a bit eccentric, nyc socialite type. The recruiting firm assured me things were on the up & up and i would be working on fundraising events for the foundation. I accepted the job and just started this week. It is crazy! The chair has me working on personal events, and personal errands. I feel she didn't want a foundation staff and is using me as her personal assistant (even though she already has 2). Its only been 3 days and I'm already sick to my stomach over going in there.

What would you do? I don't want to quit - not in this economy but I don't think any amount of money (no matter how good the salary is) is worth being yelled at. Think - Devil wears Prada movie. Do I call the recruiter and say, Hey, what the h@ll?

any thoughts or advice is greatly appreciated.

I agree! Maybe wait it out for a few more days to see if anything changes. However if it doesn't, def. let the recruiter know, esp. b/c that's not the type of job you applied for.

def say something to the recruiter. i worked a yeller once (she didn't have me doing personal favors though) when i was unemployed on a freelance basis while i was looking for full time work. the $ wasn't woth it (granted it wasn't this economy). i lasted 3 days and quit.

just wanted to say thank you for the advice.

i called the recruiter thursday after work to let her know what was going on. she made a call to check in on what was going on. she was very diplomatic (small office with no HR), but unfortunately there is nothing really she can do. i told her my honest feelings, no matter what this woman is not going to change & its not a happy work environment. she feels bad for placing me here & is on the hunt for me again. meanwhile i've started searching on my own and applying to postings again.
