Thinking about starting a little painting business with my friend
We have been painting like mad men in Danielle and I's new house, and before that we did his house.
I really enojy doing the work and we do pretty good work if I dont say so myself.
Do you know anyone in the business? Interested in learning how we would get involved in this....

Word of mouth is the best way really. Why not post an ad on craigslist.com and on a few sites? You can even make up flyers and post them around bulletin boards.
Good luck!

Re: Thinking about starting a little painting business with my friend
Definately word of mouth. Take out an ad in the local papers. Sounds crazy, but I have a good family friend who paints on the side and he got friendly with the guys at the paint store he was always buying paint at and now they recommend him when people ask for a painter. My uncle in New Jersey has a handyman business and he did the same thing at a local hardware store. They let him put up a flyer and leave business cards and his business really took off.

Good luck with it, its always great to do something you like. Just a word of advice though, you need a home improvement license to paint inside homes on LI, if you advertise without a license & insurance you can get a hefty fine from dept of consumer affairs.

I have a side business and it's all through word of mouth though. After the holidays, we are toying with the idea of painting a few of our rooms, so I'll keep you in mind.
