Thinking of chopping off my hair b/f delivery
I have medium length hair at this point...and it has become so dry and straggely since I got pregnant , so I was thinking of rockin a new do in the next few months to make life easier...the problem is my hair is curly, so not sure how a cute bob with bangs would look..although I would love the Katie Holmes look...any of you girls cut before you pushed? And do you have any pics? Also...would you even recommend it, for, will I want longer hair to tie back during delivery, shorter hair because its less to deal with...or will I not care at all? Thanks!!

Re: Thinking of chopping off my hair b/f delivery
ur hair changes when pregnant and then even after birth it can change too, so I wouldn't do it before and see how your hair is a few months post partum... My hair is insanely thick and curly and I normally get it straightened and haven't in a while bc of TTCing and getting PG, and my hair has become out of control, my hair dresser even told me to wait a few months pp to see how my hair turns after the baby before we do a straightening again....

My hair changes so much when I am pregnant I can't do anything to it really. I will get a new style after I have the baby

Re: Thinking of chopping off my hair b/f delivery
Im on the opposite end. I actually GREW my hair for the baby..
I have layers and long angled bangs that the shortest layer was mid-jaw.
Everytime I pulled my hair back it would fall back into my face. when I started to grow it out, I'd literally start chewing on my hair if I didn't pin it back a lil.
As of this month I can get the whole mass back off my neck, away from my neck and out of my face completely! SOOOO Happy with that
I used to have hair that stopped at my collar bone or just above it.. but honestly with a kid on the way, I wanted an easy ponytail do. I can still fancy it up with a blow out or really go glizty with an updo.. but generally and most likely its just ponytail hair.
I've had my hair yanked by babys in the past (i helped raise my twin brothers and sisters) and I HATED the smell of vomit (spit up) in my hair.. YUK. Plus you'd have to get the icky hair away from the baby and it'd end up on your clothes or dripping on something.. UGH SUCH A MESS!!! I have since then ALWAYS known I'd grow my hair long enough to get out of the way before I had a baby!

If you're comfortable with shorter hair then go for it! It'll be easier to deal with when you're carrying the baby and breastfeeding. They do tend to grab on!
Also, you're most likely gonna lose alot of hair after delivery so clumps of shorter hair falling off will probably be less shocking....

According to the book "The girlfriends guide to pregnancy; or everything your dr. wont tell you" NEVER cut your hair while you are pregnant
I dont remember the reasons; just what it said LOL

Re: Thinking of chopping off my hair b/f delivery
i thought about cutting it too but since i have curly hair it takes so much more work when it's shorter. i am going to wait and see what happens after the baby comes... i can always cut it later!

Re: Thinking of chopping off my hair b/f delivery
I wouldn't do it...you're hormonal and tired of being preggo, bad time to make beauty decisions. I want to cut mine too, but then I think about it not turning out exactly like I want, I know I’ll have a preggo meltdown and feel uglier coming out of the salon than when I went in for the cut. Just wait until after the baby is here and see how you feel. Buy some new clips in the meantime.

Re: Thinking of chopping off my hair b/f delivery
Thanks! I did go a bit drastic.. but it wasnt a spur of the moment thing either. I had been wanting this cut for months and months and months, but never went. I finally went just bc I know after this little on eis born I wont go out and do it bc I wont have the time!
I was told not to do it too, but my hair was so bad to the point that this new do uplifted my spirits alot.. but you can do the same with something much less drastic. If you want to just treat yourself, go get a nice pedicure so your toes look all purdy for l&d :)

I really don't understand why you shouldn't do it while you are pregnant.
I say, you want to cut your hair short, then cut it short. If you don't like it, it will grow back!

Re: Thinking of chopping off my hair b/f delivery
oh ps.. I aslo have curly hair.. not so much curls actually but horrible waves.. this new cut I just hit it with a flat iron for less than 10 minutes and im done. With my long hair that would easily take a half hour or more!

Re: Thinking of chopping off my hair b/f delivery
DEFINITELY do it!!!!
I can tell you from experience--having short hair is THE BEST. I will never go back to having it long ever again. I'm spoiled by being able to do my hair in 5 minutes.
I think I'll be even more thankful for the "easy 'do" after the baby gets here. I don't understand the whole "don't cut your hair while pregnant" thing... but think of how much easier it'll be to do!
I will say the only negative I can think of: No more putting the hair up in a ponytail. I'm pretty lazy so I'd love to be able to do that. But having short hair rocks!!!!
