Not a chance in hell.
My OB gave it to her 3 daughters. All 3 had major complications and as early teens are ALL infertile. She is suing the manufacturer and they no longer give it at the office. She joined a support group and is finding out this isn't some fluke. The numbers are staggering. Like for real staggering the number of infertile teens there are because of this.
holy crap! that's horrible! As an OB she has to wonder about all those she gave it to as well.
So sad!

I will have to see how the vaccine evolves over the next 10 years or so and make my decision when the time comes.
I have a relative who is now battling cancer for the SIXTH time in 4 years and it all originated from HPV. For that reason alone, I am really hoping I feel comfortable with the vaccine by the time my kids are old enough.

I thought I would do it for sure, but after reading some of these scenarios I'm not too sure. I will reassess when she is closer to that age...

I was over 18 at the time and I did take the vaccine. Before having kids I was very pro vax though. As an adult I am all caught up on every vax except hepatitis A. The only reason being that none of my doctors offered it. I had 0 complications from the hpv vaccine except soreness at the site. I am not infertile like someone mentioned - got pregnant 1st try for my both ds. But with that being said it makes me nervous for my own children and would be hesitant. The vaccine has to be around for awhile at this point so by the time my kids need it I am sure more longitudinal studies will have been done. If you are nervous don't do it - 11 is still young. But the idea is to have them get it before they are sexually active.

Nope, no way. My dd is 16 and was offered a few times.
There are not enough studies and years out for this yet.

Its not as widely known its for boys too.
But its on the CDC schedule for ALL children at age 11. Hence I still think its a slippery slope when you say parents can't have a voice in their children's vaccinations. NOT A ALL THINKING OF MMR.
But this comes back to it's a woman's disease as its women who suffer the most injury caused by it.

Boys are often the ones passing it. Also remember, Michael Douglas and throat cancer....

I'm not sure if my son will get it. We have plenty of time for that. Just wanted to say I did get the vaccine myself. Hopefully I will be okay.

She was and is devastated. I just don't know how they can still market it? She is a huge advocate in getting it pulled but money talks. This was 2 years ago and they are buried in paperwork from the manufacturer. It's awful. I can't imagine as a mother knowing what I did to other kids by trusting this company. My heart breaks for her. Her oldest is 20 now and says when they win any money she gets will go to fund adoption. It's so sad that the very vaccine that should protect her destroyed her chance at being a Mom. Plus if it's capable of doing that what else can it do?

No way..... Not on the market long enough and the bad side effects.
Same answer for the same reasons.
My answer may change by the time my daughter is old enough. We will see.

considering no... i have read alot of doctors not recommending it to their patients... I had a chance to get it actually when it was pretty new and declined it.
I haven't researched it fully yet so I will when I get closer to that point.
