This crib transition is going to put me over the edge!

It's only been 3 nights but it's not going well... I put him down and he's OUT but immediately starts fidgeting and fussing. He lasts about an hour and then I cave and bring him in the bed because I'm tired. He's not the type of baby that cries himself to sleep...He needs to be calm to fall asleep. I'm SO scared it's not going to work - ever!Chat Icon Chat Icon

Its hard when I first put Ryan down to bed...the first hour is nothing but me walking back n forth from his room....

Ryan goes down early....so Im not exhausted, and cave....maybe you could try that???

Either way stick with itChat Icon

If this helps at all - I read that infants take usually a 4 day transition, toddlers are 2 weeks.

All you need to do is get through 4 days. And as easy as that sounds - we never successfully got Joseph to sleep in his crib without having one of us pat him to sleep- this went on until he got his bed.Chat Icon

Good luck!

I would definitely start with naps in the crib and then phase in the night sleeping.... that helped with my daughter... my ped. said that bedtime she is too tired for the "new surroundings" and it's also dark so it's different... good luck... I had a hard time moving my daughter to the crib too...Chat Icon

If you really want it to work, you can't cave. Every time you do you reinforce that crying leads to getting into bed with mommy... I know its REALLY HARD, and it sounds like you aren't ready. I'd bring him back to your bed until you are 100% ready to endure the troubles of the transition.

I just want to say that Im having the same exact problem except Bryan is 6 months old. He screams for hours ( over 2 one night) to the point of vomiting so Im not trying it anymore and he sleeps with us and we both get a really good night sleep Im done fighting it I wasnt getting any sleep listening to him scream bloody murder. Eventually I hope he will sleep on his own- I mean when he is older he's not gonna want to sleep with his ole' mom Chat Icon

I am planning on making the transition next week over christmas break and I'm hoping it goes well! I think she's getting too big to be sleeping in the bouncey.
