When people say they have TIVO is that Direct TV or another service?

another thing... TiVo is almost like a "smart" VCR...you tell it what you like, it will record all new episodes... it's virtually a hard drive.

Tivo has also become almost like "Kleenex" or "Xerox". I don't have the Tivo service, but I have a DVR through DishNetwork. I've often referred to my DVR as Tivo, since it's just easier than explaining what a DVR is. However, DVRs are getting more popular, so the term DVR is more recognized, so I've been switching back to the correct DVR term lately.
