This is a two part question- i'm very nervous because

Hello everyone! Someone told me about LIF so here I am to ask some questions.

The doctor told me I have a low hCG and that I may miscarry. I've had previous miscarriages. It was 11 and then went to 16. It didn't double like it should. I did do research and read that women who have low hCG levels have given birth to healthy babies. I was wondering if anyone else had low hCG levels and are still pregnant? I'm starting my 5th week today.

My second question is- did anyone have a sonogram at 5 1/2 weeks and if so were you able to see the flicker of the heartbeat? I have a dr. appt. on Tuesday.

I don't have experience with your first question. But I know that an ultrasound at 5 weeks or so may not show much other than a yolksac. So it is not suprising to not see a heartbeat at that point. I know for sure a heartbeat should be seen though into 7 weeks.

The doc scheduled me for a D & C, we refused b/c we wanted to wait until 7 weeks, and here we are at 29 weeks pregnant with a healthy !

The doc scheduled me for a D & C, we refused b/c we wanted to wait until 7 weeks, and here we are at 29 weeks pregnant with a healthy !

i did not have low hcg; but just from reading; i have heard that not everyone's doubles in 24-26 hours; but that more and more women are doubling every 2.5 - 3 days

I don't know much about hcg levels, but as for the sono, I don't think the HB is really detected before 6 weeks.

OMG! Kudos for you to holding out and trusting your gut.

To the OP, I don't have any experience with the HCG question, but I know you probably won't see too much at 5.5 weeks. Maybe just a sac. My doc wouldn't see me until after 8 weeks so I didn't go in that early.

How far apart was the two HCG measurements taken?

Welcome! I don't have any feedback about your first question, but I do with your 2nd. I had my first sonogram at 5 weeks 5 days and DH and I were able to see the baby/blob on the screen and see the heartbeat flickering. We were not able to hear it until 7 weeks, but we could definately see the heartbeart. Although, I know not all people can see their baby's heartbeat this early.

The levels were taken 2 days apart. It went from 11 to 16. It should have been around 20-22. I just feel powerless bc I have no control over the situation. It is what it is. I'm not giving up hope at all. I do have a good feeling about this. I just have to painfully wait the three long, neverending weeks until I get my ultrasound and prove my jackass doctor wrong.

I had my first sono at 5w3d and all we saw was the gestational sac. At 6w3d we saw the HB and then we heard to HB too at 7w3d. Good luck and congrats!!

Thank you all for your info. It really has helped me alot and it gives me alot of hope. I'm going to schedule my sono for July 2nd. I should be 6w 2d and hopefully I will see some flickering....I guess that's where they get the saying a flicker of hope!
