This is not Democrat vs Republican
For the vast majority of people who are anti-Trump, I truly don't believe it's D vs R. We all realize that the parties change hands once in a while, and while one party doesn't like the other party most of the time, we deal with it, and look forward to the next election.
THIS, however, is completely different. This is not about a Republican controlled government. This is about an opportunist and an oligarch (among many other labels... ), who is out to screw over anyone and everyone who disagrees with him.
Since he ran under the R banner, it does appear very much like an R vs D battle, which is what I think the WH wants.
Everyone wants what's best for them and their country, and we all have a different idea of how that can happen, but the current president isn't doing anything demonstrable to indicate that he's looking out for any American other than him and a few other billionaires.
He is doing everything possible to completely divide this country. By having half the country completely hate the other half, we're all missing the terrible things that are being done to the country.
If he truly wanted to unite the country, there are so many simple things he could have done. Just the simple fact of not making person attacks on twitter would be a huge step. Putting thought behind some of his EOs would be a big step, too. The fact that almost nobody on his inner circle knew wtf was exactly involved in the ban (oh yeah, Spicer says it's not a "ban", just "extreme vetting", even though he and trump both personally used the term "ban") shows that he is not "governing", he is making personal decrees without caring about anyone else.
I truly believe he's acting like he and his friends broke into a candy store. He's taking what he wants, giving out candy to his buddies, destroying the shop, and when he gets bored, the police or community start coming in to stop him, or there's nothing left to take or destroy, he'll get bored and leave. Then, America will be left trying to pick up what he's left behind....

He's running it like the boardroom. There is a reason why Bannon got more responsibility. He is just as greedy as Trump is. I personally can't wait until his whole administration implodes and things really become a mess.

Re: This is not Democrat vs Republican
I couldn't agree more.
I think a lot of this is done by Bannon. I think he's more dangerous than Trump. I know it's only been 2 weekends, but I feel they create a circus on the weekends. I'm wondering what will be done this weekend.
I think all these things are major distractions from what is really happening. For example, the ban was a distraction from giving Bannon a role in the NSC.
I saw this article this morning
http://www.latimes.com/politics/la-na-pol-trump-immigration-20170130-story.html
"Trump’s top advisors on immigration, including chief strategist Steve Bannon and senior advisor Stephen Miller, see themselves as launching a radical experiment to fundamentally transform how the U.S. decides who is allowed into the country and to block a generation of people who, in their view, won’t assimilate into American society."
WT F is this garbage?

Yes. Would I have been happy with jeb or kasich or Rubio? No. But I wouldn't be having this visceral reaction. This goes way beyond RvD. This is good vs evil.

I agree. This is nothing more than one big power hungry ego trip for him. He thinks this is all a game, I don't think he really takes any of this seriously. His GIANT ego is just enjoying that the world is constantly watching and people have to listen to him.

This is 100% NOT about political parties. If Trump had run as a D and was doing this insane crap, I'd still be screaming from the rooftops to make it stop.
It doesn't seem like a lot of people see it that way though. I'm still being told to "get over it" becaused "my candidate lost". And as many times as I tell the same people over and over that it isn't about Hillary or being a Democrat they don't seem to listen or believe me. It's frustrating as h*ll.

I completely agree. There is a much more dangerous force behind all of this, Bannon is running the show, and Congress is happier than pigs in shit because now they can do whatever they want.
Call me spiteful but I have not one iota of sympathy for Trump supporters who are now regretting their decision. They knew what he was doing and ignored it. Now we all have to learn from their mistake. I don't give a shit what happens to me but for my friends and family with ACA and for my children and my husbands Muslim employee, I am terrified and will not stop fighting back.

Re: This is not Democrat vs Republican
It is so depressing. Every day the hate spreads more, the anger spreads more and President Douchbag and his boys get a little more giddy with power.
And I still don't see any of my Trump supporter friends seeming like they regret it. They just say he's doing what he said he would do. I just never thought he would do all of it without any thought of how to do it or getting any input from the rest of the government. (checks and balances be damned.)

Re: This is not Democrat vs Republican
I agree. I am a registered Republican and am absolutely horrified by what is going on. I didn't vote for him. SO actually did vote for him (mainly because he couldn't bring himself to vote for HRC so he voted on party) and he is equally horrified. I think somehow we thought his advisors would reign him in and not actually proceed with all his crazy campaign promises but it's far worse than I ever expected. Everyone regardless of their political party needs to wake up and see this for what it is...

Re: This is not Democrat vs Republican
we, the people, are all on the same side here regardless of party affiliation or whether you're not interested in politicsat all. At least we should be. We ALL want what's best for ALL of us. This goes beyond party. This is why I've always disliked a two party system - it's an awesome divisive barrier that keeps people distracted from what's really happening.
I am, however, angry with republicans in congress for letting this shit show continue so the greedy mofos can pass whatever they want, then, in the aftermath, they'll blame Trump.
Trump supporters are cool with a ban on Muslims despite it being unconstitutional. But, do they realize Trump just played into what ISIS WANTS? ISIS is damn happy about this ban. Recruitment is going to increase tenfold, and it's going to grow into an unstoppable force because of this ban. Homegrown attacks are going to increase. That bullseye we already had on our backs just grew to yuge proportions. And our allies want nothing to do with us anymore. Rightfully so. This is not gloom and doom. This is plain logic, and unfortunately, our reality now. And this impacts ALL of us, regardless of party lines. I hope to God Trump had a plan in place to keep us safe beyond this stupid stupid ban. With how messy the roll out was I doubt he does.

I think Kasich would have been OK. Certainly, he was the most tolerable of all the Republican nominees.

This gives me some hope. I am sitting here more and more horrified and despondent each day watching what trump and his cronies are doing. I live in NC and everyone around me still seems to love him unwaveringly. He can do a lot of damage in 4 years, especially at his current speed.

Exactly - his current speed. He is either rushing through and throwing anything against the wall to see what sticks or they are just completely drunk on power. Bannon is behind all of this.

Sadly we are in the minority. I grew up in a working class neighborhood and just about everyone I know from growing up (some family members included...) is all over FB making Rah Rah Trump comments based on completely racist and uneducated views and quite frankly sound like total bullies (much like Trump does.) SO is a cop and can't stand listening to everyone at work spout off their ignorant views everyday.
FTR I am not saying all Trump supporters are like this but it is disheartening to be surrounded by those type of his supporters who refuse to question ANY of his actions at all.
