This makes me sad (related to Rumsfeld)

There was anarticle in the Times today about a group of Marines who are using an Iraqi's house as a lookout, and the Iraqi man told them Rumsfeld had stepped down and one of the marines said "Who's Rumsfeld?"

It just makes me sad that these people are fighting in a war and they don't even know the background. They probably don't even really know what they're fighting for, and they're risking their lives every day.

I agree - that is really sad. But I also think they when you sign up to be in the military, you should know there is a chance you will fight in a war.

Regardless of the background of the war - they have one job. To follow directions whether they agree with the purpose of the war or not.

They're risking their lives for something they don't full unserstand, and they're young, many enlisted after the war started. The Iraqi man was saying he was glad Rumsfled was gone and telling the soldiers they would be home within a year. And that he felt sendin American troops had made it worse

The young marine was saying "he doesn't realize we are trying to give him freedom"

Meanwhile they had commandeered his home against his will the night before.
