This may be it...ques. (may be TMI)
So I am 40w 3d and I had an exam yesterday and was still not dilated, effaced, etc. Well I woke up a couple hours ago with just period like cramps...nothing major thou. I am not in sever pain or anything. So then I go to the bathroom and I notice some mucus plug and now everytime I go I see more mucus in the toilet and everytime I wipe there is pink on the toilet paper.
So do you think this is the start? Anyone else experience and went into labor soon after.

Could be. My labor went like this: Friday I lost my mucous plug, Saturday I had period-like cramping all day, Sunday night my water broke! I was 36 weeks. Good luck!! 
ETA: I had an appt earlier that week. I wasn't dilated, effaced, anything!

just got back from the dr. and I went from no dilation yesterday to 1 cm today and am still having mild contractions.

My cousin started losing her mucus plug on Friday morning and had her baby 24 hours later.
