This is Danielle- I would but I work in the districy and I don't want to see my students while I'm in a bathing suit . I don't even want to see myself in a bathingsuit..lol. I'd rather be in the privacy of my own backyard.

Had lots of good times at Slate Lane Pool when I was growing up! Went to Bluegrass a lot too. I really miss that about living in Levittown.

Re: This weather is really making me want to get a pool.
Gotta say, nothing like one!!! I had the life when I lived with my grandparents. Dip in the am before work, dip in the evening after work and the whole weekend relaxing. It was the life! No sand, no people, no public bathroom. Although I LOOOOVE the beach, the pool is the life!

Re: This weather is really making me want to get a pool.
I feel your pain! I am lucky enough that my FIL has an above ground pool -- perfect for just cooling off in the summer -- and he lives right across hempstead tpke from us.
I haven't tried the levittown pools yet. I'm so self-concious so I'd rather just go to my FIL's house!!

We got it at Harrows. It is a Johnny Weissmuller. I think it's 14 x 24? My DH knows all the details. I will take pics tomorrow and post if I remember.

Re: This weather is really making me want to get a pool.
Was it an easy set up pool that sets up in a matter of 15 minutes?

It's a 15 foot by 42 inches. It was easy to do - but still not full even after running the water for 4 hours!
One hint, if you get one - make sure you move the hose around the pool when you fill it, or rig something up so that the hose is not touching the edge of the pool - we dangled the hose over one side and now that side is a little lower than the rest of the pool because teh weight of the hose pulled it down and water went on top of it.
Not a showstopper or anything, just a tip.

Thanks for the info. The only concern I have right now is that parts of my yard are not level.
Do you mind if I ask how much? You can FM me if you prefer.
TIA

I answered your FM.
If your yard isnt level, I wouldnt recommend it. I could see it being all over the place. I mean, we had the weight of a hose on the side, and it made it lopsided. I can't imagine how it would be with a non-level yard.
For this year, we dont care much that its a little low on one side - I mean there is only 1.5 months to go anyway. This is just for immediate relief. Next year we will have the experience and time to make it perfect!

Re: This weather is really making me want to get a pool.
I'll have to check out the back yard and make sure there is enough of an area that is level bfore I go out and buy one.

Yeah - we also put some tarps underneath to make sure that there were no rocks or sticks or anything to puncture the pool.
Now i just need to worry about the neighborhood cats with a stray nail as they are walking by!

Re: This weather is really making me want to get a pool.
The last few summers we had a pool were cool, there were so few 90+ days, now that it's sweltering....no pool. I want to cry. I miss my pool so much!

Getting a pool has been my obsession lately too. But that baby pool idea seems like a cheaper and just as cool solution.
