This week's child report

I'm still trying to figure out how old Joseph is. Everyone said "he's an old soul." I'm starting to wonder how old.
Last week, he complained Maddie was "sassing him".

This week he's continuing his experiments of freezing his superheroes in plastic cups. Every day he gets a superhero freezes him in a plastic cup in the freezer & melts or chops the ice way in the afternoon. But he told me, "I'm not sure this ice box is working so well." Yes. Ice box. The freezer is an ice box. He's going to the one-room school house on a field trip & told me he likes the 1800's better because they couldn't go to Home Depot to get horseshoes, they had to make them. When I asked why couldn't they go to Home Depot in the 1800's, he explained that they didn't carry horseshoes.

I know he wasn't born before the Wizard of Oz was made. When we went to Saturday's Wizard of Oz play, he turned to me during the opening scene & said "I"m so excited. I've never seen this part in color before." I told him I haven't either.

He asked if all dragons breathed out fire. I said yes. Then he informed me that I was wrong. Because "When they refer to them, they say fire-breathing dragons. If they all breathed fire they wouldn't need to say fire-breathing dragons, they would say 'dragons'. I can't believe this kid is questioning my knowledge of ficitious animals.

Everything is a challenge with him. When I told him that, he answered "No, it's not."Chat Icon

Maddie, on the other hand, is still a doll. She's had a few meltdowns at home but none in school - and promises that she won't be going to the principal again. We'll see how long this lasts. I used to love Fridays...end of the week, two days off work...now Fridays have taken on a different meaning. Tomorrow is gym & I have to try to get her to wear pants. Chat Icon

It's funny I love reading Ava posts because they remind me of Joseph so much.
