Thomas the Train question
Every time we go to a toy store or book store that has the Thomas train table, DS is in love. We can hardly pull him away (he's 2 1/2). So I want to get him some Thomas stuff for home, for Christmas.
Question-- do we HAVE to get the humungous train table? Forget the $$$, that thing is HUGE, and we have a new baby coming in Feb so there will be baby gear taking up room in the house too. Is there anything smaller you can buy to put the tracks, trains, accessories on???

Re: Thomas the Train question
They have an under the bed train table that I want to get for Andrew for his next birthday. This way we can put it right under and not have to worry about space.
Right now we set up his trains on the coffee table

Re: Thomas the Train question
We have a train table, but it's from Imaginarium. I think we paid about $125. It has two drawers on either side to hold the trains and other things. You can use the Imaginarium trains with the magnets or the Thomas trains. They both fit.
You could also get a starter set. Something that makes a figure 8 that he can take apart and put together.

Re: Thomas the Train question
Hey I saw the one from Imaginarium! If I remember it's not as huge and bulky as the Thomas one (and def less $$$).
Can you put Thomas tracks on it? Or is it just the Thomas trains that are compatible?
So sorry for all the questions, before becoming a mom I never thought I'd be doing all this research on lil trains :)

Re: Thomas the Train question
We have some Take Along Thomas stuff, the trains are die cast and I think they are gorgeous. I don't have room for a whole table, but I put the tracks out for my son, and he loves to play with the trains without the tracks.

Ditto and I considered getting a train table, but DS will drive his trains anywhere, on any table or rug or track, he isn't biased
