Those recently married....

What made you decide to TTC so soon after marriage?

Im just curious because I noticed A LOT of 06ers on this board. I have recently been thinking a lot more about when I actually want to have a baby, though I am not ready yet for many reasons.

If you aren't ready, your not ready. I'm not an 06'er, I'm an 04'er and I think the last 2 years adjusted to married life where what we needed. I guess it depends on age, money, work situation/child care, housing. But, on the other hand, you never know what tomorrow may bring and today could have been your time. Do what feels right to you and not what people are telling you.

Well, I have been married for 1 year. Not sure if that is still considered recent

But I am sure everyone has their reasons for TTC soon after getting married. Some people have been together for years and always wanted a baby. Now that they are married, they are more than ready to have a baby. Others have already gotten thier homes and careers and are stable and ready to add a new addition to thier family. Others is age related and feel the clock is ticking. And some may be like me and feel that life is not guaranteed. I love my husband and while we are healthy and able to enjoy life, why not bring a little one in to share and raise to be a wonderful person in the world. Crisis happen all the time. So I believe there is no better present in the world but now.

I am sure there are several other reasons for why people decide to TTC and when they decide to TTC.

Those are just my thoughts.

Im '05er, and can say for me its a combination of age, we've been together for 8 years, and AGE!!!! <who am I kidding!>

With us, we both agreed we will NEVER be ready, there is always something that seems to be more intriguing.. so, we just decided to take the plunge.. due to age!

Our age. This is both our second marriage and we waited to find the right partner to start a family.

Now that we did, we knew we would start right away.

We are both ready.

I've been married now for almost three years and we are only now planning on TTC. And, only now because I am almost 29

Wait until you are ready! Enjoy your alone time together!

I'm an 06er...I'm not ready to ttc...even though we have been together over 6 years, we are both still young and I want to enjoy being married for a while; plus we just bought a house and moved 600 miles away from everyone...I want to try to wait till my family moves down to have a family...hopefully only a few years...but if it happens sooner, than so be it..sometimes the best things in life are not planned...and i believe everything happens for a reason.

I'm an '05er, and haven't been married a year yet, but age is definately the reason we decided to start trying. I'm approaching 36 and DH just turned 41

I can't speak for the 06ers...I'm an 05er. We're just ready. Now. Life doesn't wait. We won't. Hopefully we'll conceive a healthy baby soon!!

I'm an '06er .... we decided before we got married that we wanted to try to have a child right after....we feel its the right time in our lives. We have been living together for 3 and 1/2 years, we own our home for 2 years, we paid off any outstanding bills we owed, we have traveled to many places we wanted to go to and ok with traveling as a family from now on. Its really a personal decision ,... if you are ready you're ready...and if you are not ... then you are not. Either way...enjoy the time you have with your husband

Hi Jenn! Our biggest reason we wanted to TTC right after the wedding is b/c I turn 32 in Dec, and we didn't want to wait any longer. Also, we're both ready for kids, though we don't have a house.

Well we have been together for about 10 years and although we just got married this year WE ARE READY!

We pretty much waited to get married until we were ready for a family. (if that makes any sense at all)

Our reasons have to do with timing and just being ready. We're getting married in 2 mos but have already been living together for over 3 years. We're both established in our careers, own a home, and are in our early 30's. We didn't want to wait much longer in case we are blessed with more than one child in the future.

Thanks for the responses. I have just been thinking a lot about it since my bf found out she was preggo a few weeks ago. DH and I have been together 8 years and waited FOREVER to get married so I dont think the baby ait will be as long.

I am finishing up my masters next semester and will be up for tenure next year so I think in 6month to a year we will be joining you on this board!!!!

I hope many of you have moved over to the preggo board by then , or even have your babies, but hopefully youll all still be around LIF!

I'm 39, so we needed to start pretty quickly. We've been trying for a little over 6 months now, but nothing. It's amazing how difficult it is to get pregnant!

If I was younger than 35 when I got married, I would have waited another year or two though.

We got married March 06. Started trying that month, got preggo April, had a mc in may and are now trying again. We are both 32 and I already have a 9 year old. The clock is a tickin!!! and the age gap is getting bigger!! Plus we both new early on before we got married that we wanted to have more children!

Jen....you know I am only on here to learn as much as I can...not TTC just yet...want a house first....but I am turning 30 next year and would like to start sooner than later

Hey Jen, well we've been together for 4 years and living together for 2 and b4 we got married we both said we wanted a baby right away. IF we were 5 years younger I think we'd probably wait another year or so (until after we buy a house), but being at this age (36) DH (32) we're both feeling ready.

I was not ready until this year. The big 3-0 also FH and I have been dating for over 16 years. We were waiting a few to get a house and are looking but shhh we tried last night. I am a teacher so I figure baby due in June would be good but if it does not happen we can wait. Good luck it is a tough decision and again I was not ready until I hit 30. That tick-tock sound definitly is getting louder by the month.

We originally wanted to wait for a while, but due to some recent events we have come to realize that life is too short for us to put something so important to us on hold... so here we are!

I'm an '05er, will be married a year this Sunday. And DH and I have decided to wait 1 more year before TTC. Right now we are just completely content being the two of us (well plus our daughter the Pomeranian). I am still selfish in the aspect I'm not ready to share DH's attention with anyone else.

Not to mention, I'm only 23 and he is almost 25.

We have finally made it to a point in our lives where we have a house, bills are at a severe low, and such. We are just enjoying it to the fullest! And maybe next year we will be more comfortable opening our hearts and welcome a little bundle of joy sent to us.

i'm on 06er. We're not officially trying yet but I want to because I'm 35 and concerned it won't happen right away. DH wants to wait until we're in a house but that could take another year so I'm pushing for not waiting.
