Those that delayed or spaced out vaccines...

Can you please share your schedule? I am starting to do all the research on this for DS and am lost. My doc says he will give 3 shots at the 2 month appt and I do not want to do 3 at once. I am not sure which ones I should do first and which ones I can hold off on. I am also interested to see which ones you split instead of doing as combo. Thanks.

Take a peek at Dr. Sears' Vaccine Book. There are alternate schedules there. He might even have them listed on hes website.

Hope this helps!

Re: Those that delayed or spaced out vaccines...

DS gets 1 shot a month. My ped. pretty much made up the order but this is the order he has had them in so far:

Hib
Hepatitis B
DTap
Polio
Dtap
Pneumoccocal
Polio

He did not and will not get the rotovirus vaccine, the flu vaccine or the chicken pox vaccine (until he needs it to go to school). His MMR shot will be delayed and the shot will be broken up and seperated by 6 mo-1yr. inbetween.

I didn't do Hep B at all until now (she's 2&1/2 and getting ready for school).
We didn't start shots until 5 months old.
We allowed one at a time at first. Then once she had each individually I would let her have two of ones she had with no reaction to them.
MMR delayed.
We haven't done flu shots for her at all yet.

Re: Those that delayed or spaced out vaccines...

Thank you. This is very helpful and I am going to read Dr. Sears' book to gain more info.

Can I ask if you delayed shots until more than 2 months did you take DC out in public without them? I am nervous about bringing DS all over without them. Am I being over neurotic? We are planning a trip to NY right after his 2 month appointment where he will be around A LOT of people. Should I be concerned if he did not get all his shots?

Yes she was out and about at 4 days old.
She doesn't go to daycare so that wasn't an issue in our decision to delay them.

I took my DS out and he didn't have his first shot until 2 months. Since most people have had their shots your DC will have herd immunity. Pertussis (whooping cough) is probably one of the few that are really prevalent.

I never had a problem with this schedule. My Dr. are awesome but because I found that my youngest is delayed a little when hitting his milestones, I am delaying his MMR. I gave it to my other 2 at 15 months with no problems but it's a weird gut feeling I have this time around.

wow, i'm so impressed that you all know this stuff. both the pediatricians we've used space out vaccines, but i don't have the slightest idea what the schedule is. i just gave daycare her updated vaccine sheet today. we split up MMR too- she just got the first shot at 18 months- all are scheduled 30 days apart.

I do one shot every 4-6 weeks.
I will not do the flu vaccine or anything unnecessary.
