Those that go to Mid Suffolk Ped and have DC with Acid Reflux
DS is a patient at Mid Suffolk Pediatrics and I called them this morning to talk with them about the possibility of DS having acid refulx. The nurse said that DS has all of the symptoms but needs to be seen by the dr. to confirm. Does anyone know how they typically treat children with acid reflux? Cereal in the bottle? Medication? Change in formula? I am going to be seeing them on Monday but was curious about anyone else's experience.

I don't go to them, but Kristina suffered through it for a long while, and when I took her to the ped to confirm my suspicions, he had me put her on rice cereal in her bottle b/c he didn't want to go the route of meds.
I am so glad that he did....
I don't want to have to give her any kind of medication unless she TRULY needs it, and since I was able to go the route of the RC and having it work, I was happy, and more importantly.... So was Kristina!

I'm a Mid Suffolk Reflux Mom. Dr. suggested Alimentum & rice to thicken which is what we did. We never medicated. A year later we saw an ENT for an unrelated issue which he thought was a result of unmedicated reflux and he prescribed meds. They did nothing for him and I took him off of it.

I don't go to them either, but DS has reflux. We added rice cereal to all his bottles of BM to thicken his feed. It worked so well that we didn't have to put him on Zantac or Prevacid (which was the next step). Whenever we give him formula instead of BM, we mix the rice cereal into Similac Advance and it works out just as well. We did this instead of switching formulas so that we would have more control over how much we wanted to thicken his feed.
