Re: Those that have been to Disney World . . . .
We actually stayed at All Star Music last time we went and we liked it. It is their cheapest line of hotels and it was nice clean and did the job. They had two (or 3) pools. We drove to Florida and even though we had a car we didnt drive once.. We took the bus from the hotel straight to the parks.
Some people complained about "all the little kids" BUT
1. Kids dont bother me 2. ITS DISNEYWORLD

Re: Those that have been to Disney World . . . .
The Animal Kingdom lodge - there is no other resort like it! It is amazing I have a ton of photos if you want to see the place. If you save money and don't have a rental car - the bus system was fabulous that we almost never used our rental car (only to go to other resorts like Grand floridian and contemporary for dinner).
The animal kingdom and wilderness lodges are the cheapest of the deluxe resorts - if you don't want to spend that much I would recommend either - Port Orleans, Riverside or the Caribbean resort - any of those are great.
Check out:
Disney posting board - like this one has TONS of photos, information on hotels, rides, restaurants - they even tell you when codes come out. Disboards
This has ALL the great codes to save money on everything from rental cars, to which packages are and are not worth it - to any codes that are currently out. mousesavers
This site has tons of photos AND menus for EVERY restaurant at WDW - so you can budget and see where you might want to eat, etc. All Ears Net

Re: Those that have been to Disney World . . . .
The first time we went we stayed at the All Star Movies Resort. As someone else mentioned it's the cheapest line and it did the job. We weren't there that often anyway. We went last month and stayed at the Port Orleans Riverside. That was (I think the next cheapest in the Disney line) and we thought it was really cute. The room was a bit bigger. The pool was great and the food was better than All Star (they only had a counter top-like cafeteria style while Port Orleans had a restaurant).

Re: Those that have been to Disney World . . . .
I have stayed at the All Star Music. It is a value resort. Usually about $99 a night. Really colorful and fun. They have 2 swimming pools that are in the shape of instruments.
For our honeymoon we stayed at the Port Orleans Riverside. It was fabulous. We were having so much fun we stayed a few extra days just to be at our hotel and at the French Quarter.
We have also stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel in Universal. That was really nice. We stayed their in January and it was freezing out but we had to go into the pool because they had a cool slide. So it was 30 degrees outside but the pool was about 80 and so relaxing.

Re: Those that have been to Disney World . . . .
We've stayed at a ton of places...
Polynesian Resort - our all time favorite, feels like your in the tropics an it's very convienent to the parks as it's on the monorail path. Very expensive though (but worth it : ) )
Wilderness Lodge - our second favorite. The decor is awesome. It's like being in a hunting lodge. We never stayed at Animal Kingdom lodge but it was built by the same person and has sort of the same design so I'm sure that one is awesome as well.
Boardwalk - Liked it because it was so central to epcot and downtown and it was right next to Jelly Rolls - not sure I'd go back but it was great to stay in at least once.
Port Orleans Riverside - great resort - favorite out of the moderates. Very cute and a good restaurant.
French Quarter - it was ok. Nothing to rave about.
Caribean Beach - Great resort - Personally I don't like staying there unless it's pool weather because I feel you miss some of the resort since it's a "beachy" feel. Very nice though and would definately stay again.
Coronado Springs - nice hotel but did not have that disney feel. Wouldn't stay again.
Pop Century - favorite value resort - cute theming and rooms were very nice.
All the All Stars - always stayed for short trips. now that Pop Century is there I probably wouldn't stay in these values as I liked the other better, but they had very nice rooms.
Thanks : )

Re: Those that have been to Disney World . . . .
On Disney property, we have stayed at the
Boardwalk -- great location. It's situated between MGM & Epcot. There is a HUGE selection of restaurants because of the Boardwalk and other Epcot Resorts. We stay here a lot.
Wilderness Lodge -- LOVE this place. Three dining options. It's considered a deluxe resort but is less expensive. There's a boat to the Magic Kingdom. Two of the best bartenders work at the pool bar.
Port Orleans Riverside -- Great pool area. Two dining options -- the restaurant is one of our favorites. The rooms are nice sized. They have a great lobby lounge with a sing along piano performer that is soooooo much fun!! We are vacation club members so we don't stay here too much, but it's the hotel we would most likely stay at if we weren't.
Key West -- this hotel is supposed to have the largest rooms. I found the property to be too big...there were 5 or 6 bus stops which adds a considerable amount to your travel time.
Off property, we stayed at the Wyndam Orlando Resort. It was pretty close to Sea World & Universal. The pool area was very nice with an ice cream parlor and such.

I stayed at a bunch of the hotels, but like Caribbean Beach Club the best. It's not super expensive and has a nice food court.

Last time we went, I stayed in a 3-br Grand Villa at Saratoga Springs, right on Disney Property. It's fantastic (my brother has a timeshare there).

Re: Those that have been to Disney World . . . .
We stayed at the All Star Sports which is within Disney. ITs great because its BIG, there are buses to all the Disney sites literally every 5 minutes till very late at night.
It was cheap....BUT, the rooms very small....and there were a LOT of kids( but its Disney so duh)
I would say if your on a budget these hotels are nice enough, but if you can afford a little more, dont stay there...

Re: Those that have been to Disney World . . . .
Well DH and I go at least once a year. We have stayed at the carribean beach and loved it (we got engaged on that trip)! We stayed at the Swan and got a great teacher discount. It is a great location, but not as DISNEYish as other resorts. We have also stayed at the Wilderness Lodge (which we loved so much that we are going back for Christmas) and the Beach Club (also amazing, great pool and food).

Re: Those that have been to Disney World . . . .
The amount of kdis really depends on the time of year. We've gone a couple times in Januarya nd we stayed at All Star Music both times and there were really very few kids. It was some teenagers on school trips and a few very small small toddlers. Mostly couples in their 20's and 30's actually.
All Star Music is nice, it's great for the price. The rooms are a little small and you have to pay for a fridge. I think in the values, it's worth it to pay for the "preferred view" room. IOt has nothing to do with view, but with building. The complexes are huge. the preferred buildings are right by the lobby (read:buses!) and the main pool. It's $10 a night more, but I find it's worth it because you can walk right out of the door into the pool or onto the bus, and you cna run out for a drink or something at the pool bar or cafeteria. If you don't get preferred, you can end up 15 minutes from the buses, which can be murder coming back late at night, or if you're trying to make EMH.
The rooms are small, but definitely manageable for a couple. The bathrooms are TINYm and there's no fridge or coffee, in the All Stars there's a shower gel.shampoo dispenser in the bathroom, which annoys me. But you spend so little time in the room, it's fine.
Oh our last trip in June 04 we stayed in the newly remodeled Port Orleans French Quarter. It was beautiful and romantic with an outdoor jacuzzi and an awesome pool with a waterslide. We got a great deal on it because we're Annual Passholders, and it was amazing. The rooms aren;y much bigger, b ut there's a nicer sink area, pretty ceiling fans, gardens, etc. The bathroom is a tad bigger and they give you actual soap and bottles shampoo, which I loved, and you get an in-room coffeemaker, and now all moderates come with a fridge in the room, which is awesome, The gift shop and restaraunt were MUCH nicer than at the all stars. We really enjoyed the step up from the value resorts, and the property is SO romantic. There';s also a boat that goes to downtown disney. I LOVE POFQ. If we can't afford a deluxe hotel for the honeymoon, I would gladly stay there even for the honeymoon, that's how much Iliked it.
