Those who delivered at Winthrop
Does anyone know how much it is for a private room? And possibly if they have a lto, a few etc?
Just seeing if I might want to do it, can save up Thanks!

Re: Those who delivered at Winthrop
I had a private room there when I had my son back in May 2004. When I was admitted, I requested one and there wasn't one available, but I was moved to one the following day when one opened up. I was there 4 days after a c/s. It was $200 and was not covered by insurance. I believe the price is now higher, maybe $220 a night? It was worth it to me.
Not sure how many they have, may DisneyGirl knows, she is in L&D there, I think.
when I had my daughter this past May (v-birth, 2 day stay), I was going to request a private room again, but since I had a short stay I didn't. Turns out I had no roommate the whole time, so I really lucked out.

I didn't have a private room, there were none. Apparently I was there at a very busy time. My fist night was spent in L&D cause the maternity ward was full! Since I was only on the ward for one night (we technically left a day early), sharing a room wasn't a big deal (at least not to me, my roommate was probably pis sed every time they brought the baby to me during the night)

I think chmlengr is correct it's currently $220/night last time I heard. I think there are either 4 or 6 private rooms on maternity. If you are interested definitely request it as soon as you get admitted so they can save the room for you because they do tend to go quickly.

Re: Those who delivered at Winthrop
there are definitely a few private rooms... i dont remember how many, but i can try to remember to count them next week. And then on top of that, out of the double rooms, only about half of them had 2 people in them... the rest all had the rooms to themselves (just luck of the draw at that point). Maybe you can have a talk with your baby and request that they pick a low volume week to be born?

I'll tell you what Donna if I'm working on a really slow night I'll give you a call and tell you to go into labor then you'll have your pick of a room.

This happened to me...came into my room at 10pm...roommate was gone next morning at 11am....had the whole room to myself and a new roomate didn't come in until a few hours before I left, the next day. I had a huge room for my visitors without the extra$$...guess I lucked out
