Those who did IVF
Hey ladies! I'm hoping to cross over to this board soon!!
I'm starting injections for IVF today and I was wondering if you had any tricks or tips for me. Any foods I should/shouldn't eat? Any vitamins I should take? I'm open to all suggestions, I'll do anything to increase my chances of getting a BFP!
Thanks in advance and congratulations to all you Mommies and Mommies to be!

Re: Those who did IVF
Try to stay as relaxed as possible I called this my 'stress less' cycle! I went to acupuncture and tried not to sweat the small stuff.

Re: Those who did IVF
I ate healthier and cut back on a lot of carbs. I actually lost 6 lbs. Since I am not a breakfast person, I made smoothies of all types including veggies along with Fruit. I did add in pineapple and its core after IVF. Pineapple contains bromelain. Bromelain is an enzyme and supposedly, the core helps with implantation.
As for the injections, I had no problems with the shots in the stomach, but as for intramuscular, try to get someone to give it to you. Whatever you do, do not give a intramuscular shot in your thigh. It will hurt for days! Try to give it to yourself in the hinney.
Good Luck!

Re: Those who did IVF
Hopefully you are on prenatal but I just ate healthy and a lot of warm liquids such as soups and drank peppermint tea. Still do but honestly I think why I had failed cycles was due to my body attacking the embryos after transfer. What my RE changed for my FET cycle was I was on (still am) Prednisone which is a steroid which prevents my body from attacking the embryo and I am 7 weeks now

Not sure what your fertility issues are, but I ate a lot of foods that promote fertility and stop moisture like raspberries, avocado, barley, meat without added hormones, etc. I also did acupuncture. My first IVF cycle resulted in a BFP!!!! Good Luck

Can I ask you....at which points in the cycle did you do acupuncture? I'm thinking about trying it....

I think my #1 advice is to stay positive and have faith that it's going to work out. Don't obsess over what you are eating, exercise, vitamins (i'm sure they have told you what is important to take) and the rest will fall into place. Good luck...hoping you are posting that you got a BFP soon!

Acupuncture has a cumulative effect and builds up over time so I would start going now. I had been doing it since before my first IVF cycle in 2011. If I remember correctly, I started it in January or February and started that cycle by the middle of March. I've been really going ever since and got pregnant for each of my transfers except one. (Losses were unrelated)
Good luck!

Thank you. One more question...how often did you go?Is biweekly enough? We are going to do PGD, so trying not to spend too much money at this point.

I went twice a week while actively in a cycle, otherwise once a week. More than twice a week is too much anyway and not sure any acupuncturist would recommend that Good luck!!! I have a good rec in Nassau if you need.
