Re: Those who finished reading Harry Potter come on in.....
I think portraits can speak, but pictures (photographs) cannot.
Some where in one of the books it said that the more important the person was, the more freedom they had within the portraits. The one guy could move between his portraits from Grummald Place to Hogwarts and the Ministry as well - it happened in Book 5 when Mr Weasley was attacked and one of them went to check on him.

A friend of mine is convinced that the last Horocrux is Harry.
That would be horrible.

But wouldn't that mean Harry has to die?

Re: Those who finished reading Harry Potter come on in.....
yeah i think that would mean harry has to die. i just don't see rowling doing that. you can't kill the hero. it would be too tragic. and it is afterall a children's book. i'm refusing to believe that theory. i also refuse to believe snape is evil...

I agree, she wouldn't kill Harry. Harry being the horcrux is an interesting theory, though. Maybe he is and they will work it out so he lives with it.
I still don't think Snape is evil, either.

Re: Those who finished reading Harry Potter come on in.....
JK Rowling has always said that Harry dying is a possibility.
With all the rest of the death in these books I wouldn't be surprised if she did it.
There have been a lot of allusions to is as well, that neither one can exist without the other.
hmmm...

Re: Those who finished reading Harry Potter come on in.....
I don't thikn it would be completely out of the question. When my friend suggested it I was just like "woah" because I can see it being entirely possible. There could also be some weird magic that could like reverse the horocrux onto voldemort himself, killing out the last two horocruxes at once, something like that.
I also feel that harry dying isn't out of the quesiton, because I feel the books are growing in thier age-appropriateness with the readers. If you started reading them in 4th grade, how many years ago would that have been. You could very well be high-school aged by the time the final books are printed and released.

Re: Those who finished reading Harry Potter come on in.....
I think that the Horcrux from book #6 (the one that Harry and DD took from that basin thing) is behind the portrait of the screaming lady that no one can take down in Sirius Black's house....and I think RAB is Sirius' brother and THATS where he hid the REAL Horcrux from book #6...remember when Harry looked in Dumbledore's hands and the horcrux was DIFFERENT and then that note????
I also think that DD knew that Snape and Draco had a blood oath....DD knew that Draco wasn't going to kill him and also knew that if Snape DIDN'T kill him, Snape would die. So when DD said "Please, Snape..." he wasn't asking him to spare his life, but to go through with it and kill him...or else Draco or Snape would die.....
And my final thoughts.....I think Harry Potter is going to end up being the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor.....

I could see that only if they go past book 7. He's already teaching anyway...just not officially.

Re: Those who finished reading Harry Potter come on in.....
OMG! I just finished the books minutes ago. I think this series stopped being a children's book around book 4.
I was so sad about DD. I hope that he is still alive, but I don't think it will happen. I wish it would though. The last few books have been all about death- and no one has come back. If Snape had an unbreakable vow with Malfoy's mom, how could he break it. I woldu love to see in the next book Snape was really on DD's side and he is alive= but I'm not holding my breath. This book reallly showed the vulnerability of DD- first with the hand, then with the weakness after drinking the potion, and then with his death. I think Rowlings wants to show that strength and vulnerability are not mutually exclusive.
Interesting theories- I can't wait until book 7. I have a feeling it will end with the Harry killing Voldermort and then himself- I think that he is a Horcrux and he will realize the only way to truly kill Voldermort is to kill himself.
I kind of miss the first few books where everything had a happy ending- Book 4 was the last one that it happened. Book 4, 5, and 6 all ended with the death of a good characther. It seems like she is preparing for the final big death. JMO.
ETA: Ihave just finished rereading The Goblet of Fire. They put such emphasis on Dumbeldore trusting Snape and comparing DD's trust of Snape to his trust of Hagrid. To be congruent with the other book, Snape would have to be on the right side. Why else did he save HP in teh first one? However, congruency doesn't always win out.
I hope the final book answers all the questions. I can't wait for it!!
