Did you miscarry naturally or have a D&C?

i am so so sorry....Chat Icon Chat Icon

i had a d&c and suffered an abnormally rare complication that has had a huge effect on my fertility....i will never have one again unless absolutely necessary.

that being said, my surgeon told me that roughly 95% of women who have had them have no complications whatsoever.....

whatever you choose, i am so sorry that you have to go through this. it breaks my heart whenever i hear about a m/c.

my thoughts and prayers are with you....

Thank you so much. I told Michelle - that I always sympathized with people who went through it, but you truly don't know how they feel until you go through it yourself.

Re: Those who had miscarriages

I am soooo sorry you are goung through this. I had two miscarriages both at 5.5 weeks and did so naturally. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Take the time to heal. I went through every emotion under the sun. I know you probably don't want to hear this ( because I know at the time I sure as h e l l didn't) but things happen for a reason. At least you know you can get pregnant. With that said it doesn't make you feel any better I know. But as time went by I realized people were right by saying that. I know God has a plan for me and maybe those two times were not right for me. I don't know if you every saw the post about the spirit baby story but I did and think about it all the time. If you can try to locate that post. If you read it you'll know why I've referanced it.

Re: Those who had miscarriages

I am sorry for your loss, I had 6 miscarriages over a three year period, for three of them I had a D&C because I was in the 8-11 week period and the other 3 I let go naturally, since it was very early on in the pregnancy

Re: Those who had miscarriages

I am SO very sorry to hear about your loss.. my thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time Chat IconChat Icon

I had a M/C at 13 weeks and had a DNC.. I too only learned of my loss during a sonogram where no heartbeat was found (I wasn't bleeding or cramping nor showing any obvoius signs of M/C, so I opted to have a DNC rather than wait to miss naturally)

If you EVER need to talk, please do not hesitate to FM me

ETA: The 'spirit baby' story that Redstar/Michelle sent you REALLY did help me to deal with my loss. I know right now that you need time to accept what happened and its all very new.. but I hope you find some comfort in that story when the time is right for you)

Thanks Felicia - this is exactly what happened to me, at 8 weeks. I am just in such shock and so hurt that I have to go through all of these emotions and all of this pain.

Re: Those who had miscarriages

Those who had DnC's, how long did you have to wait for an appointment? I have to go to Winthrop.

My doctor actually had her office call over to the hospital when I found out we'd lost the baby, and I had the DNC the following afternoon . (I'm in Westchester though, so that probably doesn't help)

Re: Those who had miscarriages

I'm sorry for your loss Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

May these words give you some comfort also -

A Mother's Prayer/ Affirmation After Miscarriage
In this time of loss I call upon my spirit within to guide me to my strength so that I may find peace and completion.

I will use this strength to demand of myself and others my need to grieve completely, for this will be my first step to healing.

During my time of grief I will seek guidance not only from my inner spirit but from loving persons who may offer wisdom and comfort.

I need to understand that the soul as well as the physical body needs healing and to pay attentio to this. I will learn to accept that the soul may never heal completely.

I will learn to live not in fear and once again see beauty in my world and purpose in my existence.

In spite of my new knowledge that things happen that cannot be controlled, I must call upon the places within me that tell me I do have control over much of my life and use this control to aid my healing.

Let me recognize the gift in my ability to conceive and carry life however briefly.

Let me take joy in my ability to love so deeply and desire to nurture a soul unbeknownst to me.

Let me find healing in the belief that this oul knew my love for it and that that love helped it to pass to another place.

Let me honor this short life not only with my love but in finding meaning in its existence.

Let me recognize this meaning in not only my ability to survive, but in my fullest appreciation of all the moments motherhood will bring me, along with my deeper compassion and sisterhood to other women who've experienced loss.

Let a part of this soul be reflected in the spirit of my future children, born or adopted, so that I may know it through them.

I will listen to and trust the place in my deepest heart that tells me I will once again be reunited with this soul and will fulfill the need to hold it in my arms.

I will help myself to feel comfort in the knowledge that there is a star in heaven that belongs to me.
