stupid question..... you know those shoulder pads attached to the shoulder straps? can you take them off to clean them? they look like their sewed into place  I'm sure I'm not realizing something.... I need to clean-up some drool

Yes you can. If you look at the back of the carseat you will see the slits that the straps come through and attach to this metal clasp. You can slide the straps off the clasp and slide the shoulder pads and even the plastic clip right off. I just did it the other day because her straps were all twisted and needed to be straightened out.
