those who tried potty training and then stopped...
1. when did you try again? 2. how long did it finally take?
we tried potty training with DD a couple weeks ago. after a day of accidents, the following day she held her pee until she exploded and cried throughout the entire process, hardly ever making it to the potty. since she was visibly miserable (i thought i scarred her for life) we decided to hold off because we didn't want to torture her.
the following few days she constantly requested only diapers (as opposed to pull-ups or undies), but did tell me when she had gone and needed a diaper change. now we are back to square 1 with her just peeing and pooping whenever and not saying a thing...
i have #2 arriving in 6 weeks and nursery school starts in january (where they "require" them to be trained, although pull-ups can be worn). i was thinking of trying again next week, but some people tell me to wait until december...thoughts?

Re: those who tried potty training and then stopped...
well with my nephew (I watch hime 10-11 hours a day) we were all training him but he just wouldnt poop on the potty and then after a few months he would only go occassionally on the potty ....it got to the point where it was just frustrating for everyone so he went back to a pull up but still does pee pee on the potty (his mom had to go in the hospital for a month with baby#2 so it was hard for him)
now when I see him going to go in his pants I just ask him if that is what he is doing and if so then lets use the potty and then he gives it a try
the dr told my SIL to leave him alone and that he will get it eventually

i'm just worried about the arrival of #2 and her starting nursery school. ideally i don't want to push it and would normally follow what your SIL's dr. said, but given our situation i don't know if i should try a little?
