Those who's child slept in something other than the crib at first...
...DS is 3 months and has slept in his swing. He never liked sleeping on his back without that enclosed feeling and cried when we tried. If your baby started off in the swing, bouncer, car seat, etc., when did you make the move to the crib? Were you able to do it gradually or did you CIO quickly? Thanks!

I just moved DD recently at 6.5 months and all I did was put her in, no CIO, slept throught the night. DOn't go by me though b/c I have a very laid back baby.

Wow, I hope I have this kind of luck.
Let me ask you a question though. When you put them down in the crib for the first time, were they already asleep when you did, or you put them down awake and they fell asleep?

I always try to put her down awake and let her soothe herself to sleep, sometimes it works (most of the time) and sometimes it doesn't ...good luck

We just started with the bessinet. It works only if he is passed out exhausted. If he has to get himself to sleep, he can't do it without movement, so we still need the swing.
He will be 4 mts next week....

Re: Those who's child slept in something other than the crib at first...
DD was in our bed, then in a snugglenest then in an Amby bed (all of which were in our room) Finally at 6 months we transitioned to the crib and luckily had no problems. She was still swaddled until about 7 months then we switched to a sleep sack and eventually nothing.

Re: Those who's child slept in something other than the crib at first...
The docs had us have JAG sleep on an incline so we put him in the motion glider and than put that in his crib. When we were given the ok to let him sleep flat in his crib the transition was easy because he was comfortable with his surroundings.
