Thought kinda pregnancy related/kinda not.
Ok we we hired a temp girl for my position and of course they wait till the last minute since my last day is Friday.
Anyway her interview was Wednesday at 2pm. She called at 2pm and said she was at a Dr appt with her BF since he was in a motorcycle accident ( 2 weeks ago) and was running late. Can we push the appt to 3pm. Well at 315 she calls and said she was on her way, she just got out of his appt. She got here at 345 and they interviewed her. They hired her Thursday. ( not sure 100% why her but it’s not my choice)
We start her training friday and she is ok, not great but ok. Well she suspose to be here today. Shes not here. I check VM messages and she called at 825am to say she totally forget she had a dr appt at 1015 and will be here at 11am.
Thoughts????
Keep her or start looking for a new person
To me this is setting off a very bad impression of what the next 14 weeks could be like.

Hmm it doesn't sound like she is that reliable. Don't get me wrong-emergencies come up and if Dh was in an accident I would reschedule an interview as well. But I would have called the minute I knew I would not be able to make the interview time. Not exactly when we're supposed to be meeting! And same thing that she called LATE to say she was just on her way. And then getting into work late on the first day.
Again-I udnerstand things come up; but the first day? And it's only going to be a short period of time that she's there. I would probably call the agency and discuss any other possible candidates.

She sounds like a flake, but it's not your problem. If your bosses hired her after being late for the interview then it's their issue. Don't pick up your phone when they call while you are on maternity leave.

I cannot imagine being late like that and starting a job... If anything, I would have cancelled the doc app to as not to give work a bad first impression. The fact that she didn't do something like that... I'd say she would prob continue to be flakey!

She doesn't sound reliable. Even if she's not lying about the doctor appointments she should be able to keep track of things like that and keep her professional obligations, especially when starting a new job. However it doesn't seem like it should fall on you to have to worry about this. If your boss is aware if what happened and still wants to hire her then that's his or her problem. Unless its going to leave a big mess for you to undo when you go back to work. If that's the case, I would say something.

Um, wow! How they hired her after she was late (with a really lame excuse IMO) is beyond me! This is just the icing on the cake, no way would I even consider hiring her at this point! She sounds clueless and totally irresponsible!
