Thoughts about an entertaining menu
My grandma and cousin are coming up from texas this week, and they haven't seen the house yet..So on Saturday night my parents, sister, grandma and cousin are all coming over-it will be a total of 7 people
We don't have a formal dining room, so having a sit down dinner is out of the question..
Should I ...
a) Have regular food (if i do this i'll have to avoid either italian or bbq food bc that's what we're eating the following days)
or
b) Do appetizer type foods?
cheese platter, grapes, olives to start
pot stickers asparagus (or other veggie) chicken meatball yakitori
and one or two more appetizers (i'm assuming)
thoughts??

I'm a big fan of a bunch of appetizers...can't go wrong with that!

I say appetizers. If you are not sitting down in a dining room, around one table... then appetizers would be best. Plus it's fun, usually more entertaining and delicious than a regular/full meal and you can do it in stages to kind of elongate the evening if you wanted.

ITA. We have had a bunch of dinner parties and the 'all appetizer' ones were bigger hits than the sit down dinners. I must have 100 appetizer recipes now from all of them
Since its summer you could do mini sliders and little one bite kabobs of like shrimp or chicken, too, if you wanted to still work in the BBQ.

Thoughts about an entertaining menu
Appetizers are fun and since you don't have a dining room to hate a sit down dinner its perfect! Love the first few you came up with....for the extras, what about: shrimp cocktail kraft spinach balls (google it!) wonton taco cups some kind of kabab chicken wrapped in bacon

Re: Thoughts about an entertaining menu
I agree with the others re: appetizers... but I'd be careful to do enough variety that it can read as a meal, especially for an older audience.
Consider:
Shrimp skewers basted with scampi butter Herbed lamb chops Potato puffs Caprese skewers BLT stuffed tomatoes Grilled vegetable kabobs
I'd be sure to also have some chips with salsa, guac or other dip. I would also consider a garden salad.
Good luck!
