Thoughts in light gray for a kitchen?
We are finally painting our kitchen and I am having trouble picking a color. I was thinking light gray. We have light wood cabinets (maple) and dark countertops. Our dining room is a mauve color and is right off the kitchen. It's not open concept so I want 2 different colors. Sage green and tan are out because we have rooms on the same floor with those colors already. (I also don't like the idea of tan with the light wood.) I was thinking BM Pike's Peak Gray. Thoughts? Suggestions?

I love gray and purple. That will flow nicely. Check out Crate & Barrel for ideas for that combo. They have a lot right now.

Re: Thoughts in light gray for a kitchen?
I painted a taupey gray in my kitchen. I also have light cabinets and was very limited in colors i could choose for various reasons. My DR, which abuts the kichen, is BM raspberry truffle so I also didnt want to clash with that.
Out of all my rooms, my kitchen was the hardest to choose. I chose the 2 last days my painter was here.
I wound up choosing BM Edgecomb gray...it is GORGEOUS. I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT. Works perfectly. Best choice I could have made.
It is a rich warm color but light yet dark enough to contrast with maple cabinets. In my experience with grays, you want to be very careful not to paint a gray that will come off sort of industrial and cold looking.
If you want a darker color than the one I used, I also used BM Revere Pewter in my living room (which also abuts my DR with the Raspberry Truffle) which is on the same swatch as Edgecomb gray. It is much darker and more gray than taupe but still warm and rich, not cold and industrial looking.

We did a very light gray. Previous owners had a hideous color that didn't match the backsplash/counters. We picked BM Mocha Cream I think...

Thanks for the suggestions! Our kitchen is galley style so not much wall space. I'll definitely check out the colors you mentioned!

My kitchen is light gray. I have white cabinets and dark countertops and a grap/taupe-ish floor. I love the gray!!! I have to ask DH the name of the color.

I truly believe you will like one of the two. Good luck! It was a hard choice for me, but I bought like 20 gray samples over time and these are the only ones I liked. The Revere Pewter is a BM/Pottery Barn color.
