Thoughts on store brand formula?
So I am pumping and supplementing with formula. I am reading and looking into formulas and came across articles that say store brand formula is the same as enfamil and pArents are guilted into buying name brand, all are FDA approved and even have same ingredients.
Obviously I plan to talk to our ped but was wondering what BTDT have to say on the subject...

Re: Thoughts on store brand formula?
I wouldn't have a problem using them. We use similac and I don't feel we were necessarily guilted into using name brand. It was what was offered at the hospital and from past experience we have learned that when you find something that works, no need to mess with it. We went through 7 different formulas when DD was a baby, so this time around, we had one that worked for DS and we stuck with it.

Re: Thoughts on store brand formula?
My ped is all about generic this and that yet for some reason suggested staying with name brand formula- so we did. I was often tempted to try and switch but kept telling myself eh it is only a year. Plus I had so many Similac checks and coupons the price difference wasn't as drastic as it seems when you just compare msrps.

Re: Thoughts on store brand formula?
I use Target brand for my son when he was a baby and Good Start for my daughter. Store brand formulas have to meet FDA guidelines just like Similac, Enfamil, Good Start, ect

Re: Thoughts on store brand formula?
I really dont know. I mean RTF enfamil should be the same as powder enfamil and yet both of my kids had problems with powder being too thin. The ingredients read the same, so how could this be? I am not sure I would play with name brand vs generic. I would stick with what the baby is on right now. Especially if its working out for you.

Re: Thoughts on store brand formula?
My cousin gave the costco brand to all 3 of her children & never had a problem. My neighbor just switched her 8 month old to a generic brand also & so far so good. My DD has reflux so I don't want to switch anything up, things are bad enough around here but if she wasn't so sensitive I would give it a try
