Three Village schools warn of bus-stop incidents: Update

The Three Village School District has issued an alert on its Web site saying there have been "at least three separate youth contact incidents" involving a man in a car near bus stops in South Setauket and Centereach.
The district gave few details about the incidents, saying they took place as early as 6:15 a.m. and involved a man in his late 20s to early 30s, with short dark hair. The man, who smokes cigarettes, was "supposedly driving a white, four-door like station wagon, possibly a Dodge Magnum," the district alert said.
"Anyone spotting this subject or the vehicle matching the description around bus stops or school facilities is encouraged to try to obtain important information, such as the license plate and any identifiable markings on the vehicle," the district said.

Police: Man seen near bus stops isn't a threat

A man who was seen driving slowly near South Setauket and Centereach area school bus stops poses no threat to children, Suffolk police said late Wednesday.
The man, located and interviewed by police, was found to be a newspaper delivery man who was driving slowly because of his job, and out of concern for children who might be crossing streets on their way to school during those hours, police said.
Police said he delivered a number of different newspapers, but Newsday was not one of them.

Updated in initial post. Man was just delivering newspapers and was driving slow to avoid hitting any kids with his car.....
I want to laugh. I'm glad they were concerned enough to investigate. You never know these days.
