Thrift Store Shoppers
I am a huge thrift store shopper for DD's clothes. Yesterday I got nine items for $12! All cute Old Navy, Ralph Lauren, Gap, Carters! I recently bought a pair of Stride Rite shoes for 1.99 there too!
My question is..do you find it hard to go to a "real" store and purchase an outfit knowing you can find something just as cute for probably 90% of the price? I do! I see such cute things at "real stores", but I usually end up putting them back! I went through all of her newborn stuff and I cringe to think how much money I spent at the Gap, etc. on that stuff and she only wore it for such a short time!

Re: Thrift Store Shoppers
My mom does a lot of my kids shopping at Once Upon Child. She usually only buys thingsthat still have the tags on it. I understand what you are saying though about buying at a regular store though when you can get such great things elsewhere.
If I do see something at full price or expensive I will buy it only if I truly LOVE it. I find it's not too hard then when i justify that there regular clothes didn't really cost too much.

Re: Thrift Store Shoppers
I have a GREAT consignment shop here in MD called, "Sweet Pea Repeats"..... OMG- I LOVE shopping there. I bought her Christmas dress there for 8 dollars- and it still had the tags on it (45.00!!!).
I've bought tons of stuff for a fraction of what they normally cost.

Re: Thrift Store Shoppers
I am a big Thrift Store Shopper..
I go to Goodwill ALOT!!!
When I was pregnant with DS someone told me to go in there to get books...I was reading 3/4 books per week and DH said we couldnt afford my "habit"..As I was leafing through the books this women took me aside and showed me that they had just gotten in a ton of maternity..I literally got most of my maternity stuff there for like $25/$30 and most of it still had tags on it!!!
Since then Ive gotten myself a ton of brand name brand new jeans (store price $100+) since my prepreggos still dont fit right...and a ton of Abercrombie stuff for the girls....Im still going through gifts for the baby so I havent done much shopping for him. But I told my MIL about Thrift Store Shopping and she bought Caden a huge bag of stuff for $40....all was brand new or looked new.
Anyone I have taken in there is instantly a convert!!!!!

I go to Selden Thrift in Selden. I always walk out with something! They also own North Shore Thrift which is 2 seconds from my house, but their prices are insane IMO. I tried Once Upon a Child once, but I didn't have a lot of luck there. I figure if I'm buying used clothes, I want to get them dirt cheap. I don't find stuff for Nicholas, since by that age they seem to wear out the clothes, but it's awesome for babies! You should take a drive out there one day. It's right off Middle Country near North Ocean Avenue.

Re: Thrift Store Shoppers
I never bought clothes for DS but bought an exersaucer in excellent condition that looked hardly used, a bumbo seat that looked new and a Tiny love Symphony in Motion mobile. Everything was about 50% off or more than the new stuff. Everything looked like I had just bought it at the store. I was very happy with my purchases.
I love the one in Linderhurst. They have really nice stuff and brands.
They also have strollers.
