Throwing up every night before bedtime

Did anyone else's child do this to get out of going to sleep? My son won't ever go to sleep........he would stay up all night long every single night without even showing the slightest bit of fatigue. We started doing CIO (he is 2) but he learned quickly that vomit quickly gets mom and dad to come running, so he makes himself throw up every night. It is at the point where I don't want to feed him dinner anymore because I can no longer take it. Plus, I know this cannot be healthy for him. We have tried everything - even when we lay down with him it takes him 2 hours to fall asleep and the very second we leave the bed he is back awake screaming. I have no idea what the problem could be...he does nap every day but we make sure he is up from his nap by 2/230 so he could go to sleep by 8/830. Please help before I run away.

Re: Throwing up every night before bedtime

DS doesn't do this but I am responding to tell you that tis is common. When we did CIO when DS was 10 mos the first night he threw up - not intentioinally but from jumping up and down. Thank god that was te only time but, it did stop me from trying CIO again for a while. Anyway, DH had me ask the ped and the ped told me NOT to react besides cleaning it up b/c he said kids learn fast when it gets them attention and many children make themselves throw up for attention. Anyway, just wanted to share this with you to let you know that it is common enough that the ped shared it with us. I know that doesn't make it any easier though Chat Icon
