Thursday Gossip

"CSI" star Gary Dourdan won't need to do any fiber analysis or DNA sampling to find the prime suspect in a wee-hours West Hollywood club melee. It's Dourdan.

A traumatized paparazzo alleges the actor grabbed him, broke his video camera and slammed him to the pavement outside the club Hyde early yesterday morning.

Dourdan was sporting leather biker togs when he rolled up on his Ducati around 2 a.m. According to TMZ.com, the Web site the cameraman was shooting for, Dourdan shouted, "'Get that [bleeping] camera out of my face!' The photog obliged, pointing the camera to the ground."

With the camera still rolling, Dourdan, 40, fought to get it away from the lensman, whose head hit the "concrete over and over again," according to TMZ. After other paparazzi snapped the scuffle,
Dourdan sped off on his motorcyle. But he quickly returned to look for the cameraman.

Footage posted on TMZ follows the cameraman as he runs from a gas station to a liquor store, begging strangers, "You have to help me! He's trying to kill me!"

Finally getting a taxi to pick him up, the pap tells the driver, "Just drive!"

"Take me to the police station! Just go! Don't let them get in front of us," the cameraman tells the driver, referring to a black Lincoln Town Car containing Dourdan and his entourage. "Don't stop! Don't pull over!"

"Are these your friends?" asks the driver.

"No!" the cameraman screams.

TMZ reports that shortly after the assault, "Dourdan threatened our photog again, saying: 'I know all the cops around here - they're my friends.'" An L.A.P.D. spokesman tells us the cameraman filed a vandalism complaint.

"Dourdan is a thug, and he needs to be prosecuted," says TMZ boss Harvey Levin, who declined to give the cameraman's name. "He needs to look at some time behind bars."

Dourdan's publicist didn't return calls. A CBS rep said "the alleged incident has not affected production [of 'CSI']. Rumors that he has been dropped from the show are absolutely false."

Dourdan once told an interviewer: "I have to protect myself because people think that because you come into 25 million homes every week, they know you. I walk the line between being gracious and being rude."

We hear that Steve Martin will soon wed girlfriend Anne Stringfield. Martin divorced Victoria Tennant in 1994 after eight years of marriage and went on to date Anne Heche. Stringfield, a one-time New Yorker writer, has recently penned articles for Vogue.

Winona Ryder didn't feel that bad about having shoplifted, she reveals in the August Vogue. "I didn't have this tremendous sense of guilt, because I hadn't hurt anyone," the cover girl says. "Had I hurt someone in any way ... had I physically harmed someone, I think it would have been an entirely different experience." The 35-year-old views the bust as a "blessing" - she quit using the painkiller Oxycodone, left L.A. and made "a very conscious decision not to work."

Annoyingly for the gossip columns, peace seems to have broken out between once and future "Sex and the City" co-stars Kim Cattrall and Sarah Jessica Parker.

Although the actresses started out as close friends when the show debuted, their relationship deteriorated over the years, says an insider. "Now the women are pals again," the source tells In Touch magazine.

"Kim broke the ice by sending Sarah Jessica flowers to congratulate her on her clothing line, Bitten, and Sarah Jessica responded by sending Kim a few items from the collection."

Production is expected to start soon on the much-anticipated film version of the hit show.

POSH and Becks may have only lived in Hollywood a hot minute, but they already know the town's most important power couples. Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, along with Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith, are throwing David and Victoria Beckham a "Welcome to America" party on Sunday. Our tipster reports, "Invitations went out all over Hollywood . . . they were printed on red velvet with tacky gold lettering."

HEATHER Mills has rejected Paul McCartney's $41 million proposed divorce settlement, but says she'll graciously hop away for a paltry $102 million, the Times of London reports. When the duo called their four-year marriage quits last May, Mills allegedly sought more than $300 million of McCartney's $1.6 billion empire. An $8 million Georgian mansion in London's tony St. John Wood was reportedly high on her wish list. Now it appears Mills is willing to let it be for much less. If they don't reach a settlement, there will be an answer after a trial set for February.
