Thyroid Questions???
Hello Ladies,
I have been TTC for about under 2 years. Actually, this past year was a crazy year (we had a lot going on) for both DH and I, so we did put TTC on the backburner.
My history: I have multiple Fibroids; I had an ectopic pregancy (not in the tubes) and had a LAP and DNC and Methotrexate to rid of any pregnancy. They never found the pregnancy but the doctor believes it was probably under a fibroid. ????
So fast forward to today:
I recently moved to Texas and went to my General Practioner last monday for bloodwork and they found that my Thyroid level is 6.21. I have an appt. this monday so that my doctor can explain it to me. side note: high cholesterol too.
I have read that Thyroid does play a part in infertility and this could explain alot on why I cannot get pregnant again. I have an appt. with my OBGYN the following Monday.
I guess I am looking for some feedback about anyone who is on meds........where you able to get pregnant right away? Now, that I know that my thyroid levels are high are there any other questions I should be Asking?
TIA

Re: Thyroid Questions???
You should make an appointment with an endocrinologist. Make sure to have your t3 and t4 tested. Also see if you have elevated Antithyroid antibodies.
I suggest asking to have the RPL panel done. Immune issues are big when it comes to infertility and miscarriage. If your have elevated tsh levels, or diminished tsh levels,...it's critical to get them controlled.
If you need more information just fm me.

Re: Thyroid Questions???
Hi,
I have similair TSH. I am now TTC and have been for well over a year. Im on 50 mgs of snythroid and my TSH has lowered to mid range, and if it doesnt fall below 2.8 soon, they will up my dose., They would like under 2.5 or less when TTC, and I will likly have to increase my dose when PG.
Its controlled very easily with meds...Dont worry too much!

Re: Thyroid Questions???
My TSH was 150 in July. My gyno said that she had never seen a TSH level that high. But now i'm on 100 mcgs of Levoxyl. My TSH was 1.7. My endo said that your thyroid levels can effect the baby's thyroid. A mother with hypothyroidism can cause mental retardation in children. Good luck with everything :)

That's what I read. Soo Scary!!!
I knew that thyroid could prevent a woman from getting pregnant or carrying her pregnancy but I never knew it could affect the baby.
I have learned so much from LIF. I have a new doctor now and I should find out what my levels were when I was seeing my other doctor. I will be p*i*s*s*e*d* if I find that my levels were elevated without treatment.
On another note, my cousin(who is also ttc) just called from her ENDO's office and she mentioned to her Dr. about having her levels 2.5 or lower and he never heard of this!!!!! Uhhh, shouldn't he know??? I will talk to my cousin in person, maybe I missed something.

Re: Thyroid Questions???
Ladies please get your anti thyroid antibodies checked, it's very very important. Tsh levels can be normal and yet the ATA...can be soaring. You need to see someone who deals with reproductive immunology if that is the case. Very few doctors out there know how significant this is when ttc.
