Thyroid trouble & TTC
Hi all,
I'm hoping someone can give me a little insight here, if anyone has had a simiiar experience...(sorry, some parts may be TMI)...
I was diagnosed as hypothyroid (underactive) about 7 years ago. Since then, it's been a non-stop battle to find the correct dosage of Synthroid for me to take. Before I went on the Pill 7 years ago, I hadn't had a period in over a year...
...now that I'm off the pill, the problems with my cycle are starting again. At least things are working themselves out this time, but my last cycle was 45 days from start to finish. I'm starting to think we may have some trouble TTC in a few months.
Anyone been through this? I'm a little worried. Thanks a bunch.

I used to see an endocrinologist, but the moment my thyroid went back into the "normal" range, he said I was fine. Well, I don't FEEL fine and haven't felt right in about 7 years. My PCP right now is great, and says he'd like to see my TSH levels between 2 and 3, which is the middle of the range. We'll see what happens...I guess I'm just nervous about the whole thing.

Re: Thyroid trouble & TTC
I have hypothyroidism also and just went off the pill. We want to start trying is July. Does your doctor know you are ttc? My period was never affected by my thyroid but I started taking the pill when I was 18. Now I guess I'll find out since I am 10 years older and heavier also. Do you know if a lot of people have this problem?

Re: Thyroid trouble & TTC
I am hypo as well and had a hard time getting adjusted.
I feel better in between 1 and 2. You need to find an endo who listens to you, not just your bloodwork. Easier said than done.
My endo said he would like my levels to be lower than normal for TTC purposes. I had no trouble getting preggo, but miscarried. I don't think the two were related though.
Good Luck!!!!!
FM if you need to, I know it can be very frustrating!
