time to call the writers of "House"... mom's in the hospital, AGAIN

she's still having the same symptoms of dizziness and feeling like she's going to faint.

today, they'll be doing a spinal tap.

i seriously believe that it's how she's handling the changes in her life and all the drama that she loves to surround herself with.

i'm going to do a little research into the family leave act (if that's what it's called), to find out what options are available to me.

So Sorry about your mom.

I also have constant dizziness and feeling like i have to faint. In my case its anxiety which causes my vertigo. Have they looked into this. It may all just be anxiety like it is in my case.

this is what my guess is. my mother thrives on drama. that combined with her boyfriend issues, have made her life interesting, lately.

My DH has vertigo too and it's awful.
Could be inner ear related or some other disorder that I forgot the name of.

Hope she feels better!

Did they have an ENT look at her? My aunt had really bad inner ear infection that needed to be drained with very similar symptoms. They did all sorts of heart testing, and neurology, and such and the ENT was able to diagnosis in less than 10 minutes.

Does she take blood pressure medication?

My grandmother was getting dizzy spells and fainted twice. The second time was really bad and my mother took her to the hospital. It turned out that she developed an arrhythmia and when her heart would skip that beat is when she would feel dizzy. Since she was on BP medication they thought that the medicine was causing it.
They ended up putting a pace maker in and she is dong great.

Now, she jokes that she has a battery at almost 90 years old.

Hope she gets help that she needs

vertigo is HORRIBLE.

i have it and take meds for it.. but still get bouts of it and the dizziness the feeling of faint its so powerful and disabling

I never actually 'understood' it before. But its beyond just dizzy. its crazy. I have used home methods of trying to settle it enough to just get out of bed. You feel like you are about to fall off the edge of something but youre not sure what.. and its so hard to just settle within your own body. ugh.

A year later for me its gotten better but I still have some bouts and they are only NOW saying "hey would look into that" haha I think some doctors (rightfully so) think it will pass.

Anything can set them off in your life. I had never had issues, then one day had a dental procedure, 3 days later the Vertigo started. just crazy!

Re: time to call the writers of "House"... mom's in the hospital, AGAIN

my mIL had this similar experience when she got the closing date on the sale of their house (10 years ago). it was the house she lived with her DH (My Dh's father) who died suddenly at 42 years old.
They were selling the house he was dead for 7 years at that point, but still traumatic for her to be leaving the house she shared with him.

DH and I were supposed to go on a date that nite, she was on the couch, saying she was dizzy, going to faint, numb lips and arms, etc. They ran 1million tests and found nothing wrong other than her anxiety.

Re: time to call the writers of "House"... mom's in the hospital, AGAIN

looks like they're not finding anything.

but i am happy to report that her discharge orders are to have her eyes checked and to also speak with a therapist/psychiatrist.

hopefully, this will help her deal with the changes in her life that seem to be affecting her health.

again, thank you all for the support and the thoughts/ideas on what to ask the drs

My girlfriend was complaining about dizziness and it turns out she has a problem with her thyroid. Have they checked that?
