Time to get serious...please recommend a real estate agent
DH and I started looking 2 years ago. At the time my sister's friend was our agent but I was less than pleased at all. I've been keeping up with MLSLI the past 2 years and haven't found what I want either. I'm so lost with this whole process that I'm not sure I can go into it alone. I really want to buy something this year.
Any recommendations? I just really want someone who will understand what I'm looking for.
ETA: I live in the Medford/Farmingville area and am looking in Suffolk. Holbrook, Holtsville, Ronkonkoma, Oakdale, Bohemia and surrounding areas.

To the OP - I am always happy to help! I have a lot of experience as a buyer's agent, and frequently work with first time buyers.
My practice is to first set up a buyer's consultation with a potential client -- rather than initially running out to look at homes. I think it is actually more efficient for you to invest that time with me upfront, so I can get a better handle on your needs, goals, and home buying criteria. I like to get on the same page, so I don't waste anyone's time. Also, at the initial consultation, I always go over the entire buying process, as well as any potential pitfalls/challenges we may face in your particular situation. I think knowing what comes at each step alleviates a lot of stress of house hunting. It is a big step to buy a house, but it should be a fun, positive experience!
