tipping gym day care

How much do you tip?
I brought Maya to the gym day care for the first time yesterday. She was in her car seat and slept or giggled at the lady for the entire time she was there (I didn't take my eyes off the monitor and only worked out for 40 minutes).
I saw a sign that gratuities are not expected but are appreciated, and saw a $5 bill on her table, so I tipped her $5 as well.
Is that the norm? I just want to make sure I am doing the right thing by her.

I tip between 3 -5 dollars if I have cash on me. Sometimes I don't give anything.

DH usually tips them between 2-5 dollars. They only ask for $1 per child but we always bring 2 kids and one is an infant who often needs to be fed so he gives more.

I have been going to the gym for a little over a year and I really don't tip. Once and a while I will do a big tip like $10 or $20 and that is it for a few months.
It doesn't seem like $1 or $5 is a lot but it adds up when you go a couple times a week, especially if you have more than 1 child. I already pay for the babysitting in my monthly fee.

My mom does not pay for it in her yearly membership and she tips $5 per child
