tipping the guy in the building
So usually when someone has come to fix something or do something I give them a tip (ex. fixed small leak in shower, and unclogged drain) The other day another one of the guys who maintain the building came to put my AC in now I know that is considered a private job so I understand that they charge 25 for it. While he was here I asked if he could put up the kitchen curtains I finallly found ones I liked (currently theres just a shade there) He said he'd have tocome back today because he needed other tools.
I didnt think to ask if there is another fee for this since I guess this would be considered a private job again. I can't do this myself because since theres a gate on my kitxhen window I need him to put in the rod holders on the walls on the side of the window.
Am I to assume this might cost 25 again (my curtains didnt even cost that much) or should I just give him a tip? If so how much?

hmm.. not really sure. Could you ask a neighbor what the procedure usually is?

My grandma's co-op building is like this, and the curtains would be considered a private outside job. I couldn't even hazard a guess to the price though. I don't think she tips in addition to quoted prices on private jobs though.

For the AC I understood the higher price, although the ac isnt even that large and it didnt even take him that long to do it but all this is is one kitchen curtain. I still havent picked out the ones for the livingroom (yes I've been here months now and can't find ones I like )
I always tip when they do something, and for the AC my grandpa was here when the guy came so he paid the guy no clue if he tipped him on top of the fee. but if he's going to charge 25 dollars to put up a small curtain

My guess is he won't charge. However if he does definitely don't tip...he's making enough $$ for 10 minutes of work.

my mom told me to ask before he starts because if hes gonig ot be charging 25 for every job then I might as well wait until I find the ones I want for the livingroom first.
