Tipping the Owner of a Business
I am going to get a facial today and the woman that is doing my facial also owns the spa.
Do you think I should tip her?
For some reason, I can hear my Mother's voice in the background (from back in the day) telling me not to tip the owner and that it's not required. Is that still the way things are?
ETA:
The tip would be about $25 on top of what I pay her for the facial.

Re: Tipping the Owner of a Business
i feel weird about not tipping people- i usually offer and if they decline ok, if not, i feel like they worked hard for it and deserve it. thats just me though

Re: Tipping the Owner of a Business
I once had my hair cut by the owner of a salon bc my regular stylist was out....I tried to tip him and he said no way!

Thanks everyone. You know, I think that if I like her service, I will offer the tip and see what happens.

Yeah, offer it and see what she says. She really shouldn't take it but I would still offer it.

Yep!
I think the thread was pulled ...
BUT the OP of that thread started off by saying that people of certain ethnicities don't accept tips, one of the other 07ers or 08ers might remember more details.

Re: Tipping the Owner of a Business
My family is always telling me I am too nice a tipper....I feel that if I dont offer a tip it is a negative reflection on me...so even though most people say that you don't need to tip an owner I always do. I wish I had the guts not to...I would have saved so much money over the years if I could resist the urge to tip everyone

LOL!!!
the thing was that the woman who owned the salon was Korean--and therefore the OP didn't feel as though she had to tip cause she was supposedly told that you don't tip Koreans by another Korean. One of the most ridiclious threads ever.
Do you have to tip $25? That seems like a lot for a facial -- why not tip less than that if you feel uncomfortable not tipping
